Thanks for the submission! It's a good idea with the arrow, and I really like the transparency and shading in the gauge itself, but this approach isn't working for me. The gauge itself is simple in design, but the emphasis on it, the details inside the gauge, the needle, the arrow -- it all adds up to too much to take in.
Also, the arrow has a stuck-on kind of feel, not only in the design but also in the concept -- rather than going "up", the gauge is spinning around and around in circles.

Here's my proposal for your Altimeter logo. :)
I wanted to include the idea of growth in the altimeter itself. Hence, I added an arrow showing motion of the pointer going up.
I really worked hard to keep it simple yet strong.
I really hope you like it.
