I like this color treatment a lot more. Only consideration is that it encourages the alternative pronounciation of the word altimeter. The mainstream pronounciation is "al TIM-i-ter" and the alternative is "AL-tuh-mee-ter". But emphasizing the pronounciation with the design removes the neat way you dot the "i".
It also raises the question of how this looks in black and white. In BW, it's not clear why the "i" is lower case.
The graphic, even with the little bulge, is growing on me....
