This is a nice approach, but the graphic isn't strong enough to stand on its own. The hash marks are a far, far echo of the gauge, too abstract. In addition, I think the graphic is trying to also be the needle on the gauge, but it doesn't work.
I still like the font treatment, which is the same as your first submission.
