I like the general direction you're headed with the one in the upper right corner. I'm just not sure that the initials are really saying anything about the site or how people will use it. The tagline "Stay Connected!" is a nice touch.
Disclosure: I created everything in my entry and I didn't copy anyone else's concept. (?)
I used colors that I thought both represented "strong" and "Navy". The first entry I'm putting in has no graphical element to it - it simply has a couple of strong fonts for the NNN and a more personable 'Stay Connected' tag line.
