Hi there,
here's a kinda smart one.
The waves in first represent the navy but at the same time they represent a "stylization" of a text thus visually presenting the therm "news".
It also stands for the symbol of communication, as in radio waves, tv program, etc.
It can also be a simple favicon and could make some great stationary based on this icon.
And just to mention that the typography is custom made.
