I have read over your brief and here I created a mark that can be scaled down to 32x32 pixels and still be seen clearly. I can add gradient and reflection styling if you would like that once the solid color entry is chosen. This will also work well ...(more)

This one is growing on me. It's clean and focused.

I'm not sure if the waves are the most effective imagery I could use. Your explanation makes sense, but I don't know if it reads the same way.

Thanks for incorporating my idea about family. I like what you've done with the people. I could even see having a few different versions -- maybe with the woman as the sailor, a single parent and child or a single sailor -- to suit different segments of my audience.

I showed this ...(more)

Thanks again for the revisions.

As I said in my addition to the buyer's details last week, I don't think the news aspect of the site's mission really needs to part of the logo, other than in the name. I'd rather that the graphical part of the logo convey something about ...(more)

Thanks for the revisions. I like this simplified look better. The font for me could still be a little stronger and still be fun.

Thanks for the revision. You had no way of knowing about the gold stars' meaning without any exposure to the military.

I'm not crazy about this concept. The way the Ns are arranged doesn't clearly relate to the purpose of the site or its audience. I appreciate your effort, but I just don't see the connection.

Here's a more iconic approach.

Hi there,
here's a kinda smart one.
The waves in first represent the navy but at the same time they represent a "stylization" of a text thus visually presenting the therm "news".
It also stands for the symbol of communication, as in radio waves, tv program, etc.
It can also be a simple favicon ...(more)

Hi Elaine,

Thanks for your feednack.

Making hands is difficult but the word "Family" sounds good to me, so, here's my second attempt.

It's need some more colors adjustment but the idea is here.

I hope you like ;-)

In these two logos I've added the "news" concept too, that combined with the ship's wheel and the waves sea, make to speak the favicon even without the "Northwest Navy News".
Hope you like it :)

Thanks for the feedback!
Well, I changed the font, with a more playful font.
I think that the previous you liked , gave a more corporate look to the logo.
Used only one "N" both on the logo and the favicon.
Hope you like it!:)

Hello,

My goodness, I had no idea that is what the gold stars represented. My apologies.

Here is a simplified version of the star theme.

Thanks for your entry. I like the type and the shading here.

Rather than going with something that says Navy to emphasize the hat, maybe you could play with something that says family or Northwest. I was thinking of some people figures hugging or holding hands and standing inside the brim of ...(more)

Withdrawn: The buyer didn't really like this one.

I like this shape as an alternative to the entries where the graphic or icon is stacked on top of the type.

I'd like to see you take this and inject a little more playful feeling. This is very clean and professional, but it feels too serious.

Thanks for showing me something a little different from the other entries and for providing a favicon option.

The type looks fine, but I have a problem with the ship icon being a steamship. It gives the logo overall a more retro effect.

I do like the shape of the graphical element and ...(more)

I like the idea of the stars, but gold stars among military families signify service members who have died.

I'd also like the typography to be a little more focused. The top version is a little better than the bottom one.

The ship graphic here is too detailed for me. I'm worried about ...(more)

Thanks for giving me so many options on your design. I don't really like this wave style. The shape reminds me of a toupée or mustache.

Hi,

Here's my proposition for your logo.

I think we can add a little symbol on the hat for giving more importance but I'm not sure if there is official initials like USN or another thing ?

Second concept.
With this concept, you could use the same favicon from my previous entry.

Please, tell me what you think :)
