You're right, it looks tacky. About the typeface, i think, neat and sophisticated look is important. If you check my scores on all designs you'll see what i mean. I do appreciate your own ideas and designs. Feel free to express what you feel like about it.

OK, heres a crack at making the letter 'o' part of a ribbon and bow.
