Ok, so moved the circles in much closer and not so equally spaced.

Enhanced the colours, but not sure if this is going on dark or white background, so to better see stronger blues, have put on white background.

its simple clean rememberable.... the best logos usually are so simple so that is the approach i took

also, the 3 circles dont need to be equidistant. The y shape carved out from the back circle can have different shape "legs" due to the circles being of different sizes and different distances apart.

Dont worry about the rounded corners. Can you try moving them in further please?

Also I think the colours could possibly be stronger.

Have tried to shift them further inside, but there is only so far you can take them before the black borders take up too much room. YOu can get them further in, but you would need to sacrifice the space in between.

But they have been moved in a little bit.

I can see what you mean, but this is starting to get a bit too complex.

The other design to me looked like three cogs, which could be imagined to all turn together for the good of the greater cog. It also suggested fluid growth ranging from small to big in a ...(more)

What I have tried to do is create a negative amourphous shape within the spehere. The black act now as inverted channels rather than being actual positive connectors. Just trying to get away from the similar logos being used.

This is just a tweaked version of the previous idea. I have made the corners of the 'indents' in main sphere curved, rather than angled.

It's a small change, but helps with the overall appearance of 'smoothness' I think. :)
