I was trying to use the text for "It's a Guy Thing" so that it can stand alone as a logo. Then, you could add a graphic element (such as the hammer) interacting with the text block to represent the different parts of being a guy.
A few variations I thought of (don't have time to implement before the contest ends):
1) the hammer banging a nail into the "Y"
2) a beer or scotch (or other drink) resting on top of the "NG"
3) using just the text and adding a pair of the "rabbit ears" antenna coming out of "GUY" to represent the gadgets & home entertainment aspect
4) using just the text and adding grill marks, with a little steam coming off to represent BBQ & outdoors
...and the list goes on :) sort of how Google has the same basic colors and text and they add themed elements around it for special holidays, etc (except I would like to keep this logo much simpler than that)
Disclosure: I created everything in my entry and I didn't copy anyone else's concept. (?)

Here's a rough concept I started today...but ran out of time. I would be happy to work on it more if you like it....just wanted to submit something before the contest ended!
