This is a really strong entry - I particularly like how prominent the blog headline is and the strong graphic used alongside it. From a distance, the first thing I thought when I saw the circle with the lines through it was "Obama logo" - but on closer look it is different. Nice touch with the cutoff "g" ...
My only thought is perhaps trying something else in the circle part that demonstrates influence aside from the flames to see if that might work better. Perhaps something like the radar or soundwave visual a few other designers have explored?

This is my entry, I tried a "less obvious" flame. :)The actual header is slightly larger, we can only post 800x800 pixels drafts.
