Here are the spheres without connections, I took the shadow off for the moment. And yes, the shadow would be a separate layer you could turn off. As a matter of fact, everything is in grouped layers that can be turned of and on (shadow, main circle, center glow color, and hi-light)
I believe I understand your connector corner comment, you want the transition from connector to sphere to be completely smooth, correct? I am working on that now, so you can tell me after I upload if I have it right.
