We're developing a site for nautical enthusiasts and we have a significant element of the site that involves maps, called "charts" in the nautical world. We would like to see your proposal for how you would redesign the nautical chart from its standard presentation today. Consider this similar to being asked, "How would you redesign the street map cartography on maps.google.com?", except applied to nautical charts.

We received a question from a creative. Here's our answer, I hope everyone can benefit:

The Question: "Will the final product be charts that will be printed and sold...or do you need to see a chart to help inform you how a new chart would look in an application/GUI environment?"

Our Answer: "The new chart design will be used for an online service using an interface similar to Google Maps."
