eternalmartyrdom, i think you are being quite harsh about this whole thing, first off saying that Jibbsters poster took no skill to create is nonsense, i think he did a good job especially isolating the white background from the band which as you probably know can always be a problem and the same goes for extracting Nostradamus's head from the background. Rather than be a pain in the arse why can't you just give him some useful advice for future projects? Although i really like the painting you created, your poster had numerous faults including text stretching, no fixed margins, you can see the line that seperates the two images, and the album covers are stretched. yours is a not so well executed cut and paste job so you are hypocritical in saying that about Jibbsters. I detect a lot of jealousy and hey even if it didn't take too much time or whatever its what the client wants as a professional you should know this! Also i work for a small professional design company but i've only been working there for 4 months so i would say i am a pro but i'm new to it. So he is not a hypocrite. (less)

But alls well the ends well ......and just so mizz pain killer knows there is a sense of good and bad design and sense of artistic and professional level of design .aswell as their is godly metal bands and bands that are shitty , aswell their are bands better then what the mainstream lets on . so everyone im not a sour grape or somone who is pissed off for not winning im just pointing out that the design took no skill to create and also to cut and paste letters from other peoples designs didnt either ... but thats my view and have a good day jibster at the concert and have a good time . ha and jibster your a hipocrit you said u are new to design on here but in a message you told your a professional contradictory right ? Jibbster, you won man... don't go running off now. If there is one thing that you need to learn from this experience is that their will always be sour grapes. Don't worry about them... Judas Priest picked your design! Good for you... this should inspire you to reach for bigger and better. I say, "bring on the designs. Jibbster!"

(If that is the case for anybody i feel sorry for you). Congratulations Jibbster, the more i look at your poster the more i actually like it and its cool that you won. You are also right about constructive criticism, sure we all had our favourites or whatever but we have missed out the importance of being a designer and that is sharing experience. The only constructive criticism that i can come up with really are the shadows and the text. If you had blended the shadows a little more it would look better and also some of the text for the tour dates looks squashed. I don't know if that is a font problem or a tracking/kerning problem but it would look better with negative kerning/tracking applied. I do really like your design and the astronomical feel is really cool. I think maybe if you include the band logos instead of just plain text, this would also make it look cool. Well done and i appologise for the way we have made you feel on here, it shouldn't be like that... we all love of Judas Priest. (less)

Feeling sad for loosing is quite understandable, but instead of taking it on the winner we should analyze why our design wasn't picked, and gain experience for the next time.
Jibbster's design wasn't the design we all expected, but hey, Heavy Metal was not the music the world expected, and it also took a lot of criticism. But in the end, it laughed at the people who gave shit to it. So the reality is that there are no "good" and "bad" designs, there is the "winner" design and the rest. Everybody with half a brain should respect and learn from that.
Enjoy the tickets and the experience Jibbster, and scream your heart out in the concert, that's the least you can do :) (less)

About the design. It could be terrible, it could be great. All of it is subjective. I hold no ill feelings toward you, and commend you on your win. dont take off, because it is the variety that makes crowdspring successful, and you make up a peice of that puzzle. We (the complainers) are a very small portion of the designers here at crowdspring. Notice that there are several hundred other designers that werent knocking your entry.

Secondly, I'd like to thank all of the sore losers for making me feel like trash. Yes, I know my entry was not the best or the most professional and I never expected to win. I had a really great time making my poster, and it was really fun for me to enter it into this contest. This was my first contest like this I have ever entered into.

But I cannot even describe to you how dissapointed I was that I lost. My only chance of seeing Judas Priest in concert was if I won this contest. I didn't even care about the meet and greet, I just wanted to use the money to see the band, and now I can't see them. I cried my eyes out I cried for two hours. My mom tried everything to cheer me up. Finally what did cheer me up was writing it all down in my journal.

I hope jibbster has a great time at whatever concert they go to.

I'm not mad at anyone for the way things turned out. I just wish they would have turned out better. Maybe next time Judas Priest will have runner up prizes, like autographed pictures or KK could send the runner ups one of his guitar picks.

Well, I won't be seeing Judas Priest this year. Thanks very much crowdspring, and Epic. You did a good job of breaking a young girl's heart. (less)

Hi everyone and thank you so much for participating in this project. First off congratulations to jibbster! Great entry and great job! It is clear that jibbster (and everyone else who participated) put in a great deal of time, effort, and hope into their work and this project and we think the results are totally awesome. Great job everyone!

Other than the fact that this project was for a famous band, it is really no different than any other crowdSPRING project. Anyone who chooses to participate can, and anyone who thinks it is not for them can choose not to. And that's OK. We have successfully completed over 300 projects since crowdSPRING launched about 3 months ago and in every single case people could (and often did) argue over whether the "best" entry won. But, at the and of the day, it is the buyer who gets to choose the winning entry, not the other participants, not the casual viewers, and not crowdSPRING. Here's a few important facts about this project:

- The winner was only just selected this past Friday night at 8pm,
- The buyer for the project has not even received the final files from jibbster, and probably will not for at least several days.
- Until they receive these files, they have no artwork to use on their website or anywhere else,
- The buyer for the project has already paid $500 for this design, and the project is just what it always promised it would be: design this poster and get $500 and a 2 VIP passes to meet the band backstage. And they have promised that the passes will indeed be delivered.
- crowdSPRING monitors our projects carefully and encourages creatives to report any problem with a project. During the course of the Judas Priest project we did not receive a single complaint, nor have we yet (the comments here, aside).
- We will post the date and time when Epic does put the poster up on their site and will continue to work with them to bring the project to a smooth wrapup.

At crowdSPRING we celebrate creativity, choice, and the pure fun of creating work and we encourage everyone else to do the same. We do understand the disappointment many of you are feeling - there were some great benefits awarded in the project, and not just the money. But everyone here deserves respect - from the buyer to the participants to the Judas Priest fans who just wanted to watch the action unfold. jibbster, in particular, deserves congratulations from all of us, not jealousy or abuse. That is not what this community stands for.

So thanks again, and once again congratulations to jibbster and everyone else who participated in this awesome project!

I spent about 1 hour and I think my entry is quite good), but none of us were forced to do so. And besides I don't get why some people criticizes the decision of the band, the manager or whoever made it; it wouldn't make sense they had chosen the one that would not fit best for them... so if you havent won just shut up and learn some humility instead of criticizing the winner for not being "a professional design". Art is not professional, it is Art.

Mr Lekberg:

Thanks for your quick response, now that I know who you are, here's my response directed solely to you. First, Above this comment in BOLD states "THIS PROJECT IS CLOSED" so while it may be a contest, it required the dedication, creativity and technical/ artistic skills to be more appropriately referred to as a project, disappointedly, in the end it floundered guided by your hand of ineptitude and incompetence to nothing more than a random ticket being pulled out of a fish tank at a "Chucky Cheese" afternoon birthday party. Second, The childish rationalization that you are the judge because you are "in the band" is insane. Mr. Lekberg, you are not in the band, you never have been, you never will be and what audacity to make such a ludicrous statement, what an insult to Judas Priest, their fans and creatives, it's almost beyond words, yet I'll sum it up once more, it's
frankly insane. Thirdly, you still need to address your lies about the band having seen and critiquing the results. I presumed as all that were deceived, that the band, meaning MEMBERS OF JUDAS PRIEST would be forwarded the spec posters and they would give them a look over while on the tour bus or before or even after a gig to decide what poster best represented the band, meaning of course JUDAS PRIEST, however, you never expected a contestant to attend a show as a VIP and meet the band, meaning JUDAS PRIEST backstage. You can't imagine the look on their faces nor the awkward embarrassment I felt bringing the subject up. It was a tremendous letdown on what still turned out to be a wonderful event, but without a shadow of a doubt confirmed you, Mr. Lekberg, are a deceitful, calculated, liar.

I didn't enter "The contest" for the tickets or the money, I entered to use my skills to perhaps give something back to a band that I have listened to since 1976. The bands music, meaning JUDAS PRIEST has meant so much over the years, corporate weasels like you will never understand, in the end I blame myself for being naive. Blinded by the excitement only a true fan can relate to.

Don't change a thing Mr. Lekberg, your the perfect specimen for the entertainment industry.

Hey jibbster, how you doing?! Let me begin by congratulating you. Great job! Since we all see these so-called "contests" as "projects", that is, as a friend here so nicely put it once: that "all entries in a certain project help create the winning one"...you mind if I offered some suggestions? You may or may not agree, but this is what I feel:
01. Try not to "stretch" texts, unless it's really required to create a certain effect. Some consider it a major typographical crime.
02. The stellar-sky idea at the back was a great one! Loved it! But just notice, you haven't balanced the focus of the Nostradamus head and the stars. While Mr. Nostradamus seems slightly off-focus, some of the stars look really sharp. You can try softening the stars a bit and compare the results. Also, you may want to play with the stars' brightness as well to blend them properly.
03. You could play a bit more with the Priests' shadow...it looks a little uncooked and not properly blended.
04. Try not to use too many fonts in a single design. You used four. Sometimes it works, but not always.
But again, nice job! And sincerely, I am trying to be politically correct! I am with you! I can see why and how your idea of Judas Priest standing on planet Earth worked! Smart idea!
Since we have some great designers here participating in the project, I am sure they too have a lot to suggest. Consider this teamwork, with you being the skipper. All the best!
These are my humble suggestions...they are not necessarily right ones. You may use them, and you may not! (less)
