The graphic portion could certainly tend toward the iconic, to support the goal of creating a stronger image at different sizes and across materials. That means that it should be able to hold its own if any words or letters are removed.

It is acceptable to have a graphic-only (i.e., no words) submission. It's possible that we'll make that a follow-on item or choose an entry that has those elements integrated. As noted in the comments to the first set of entries (Yay Abby!), the ".com" portion of the name is even less important and need not be included in an entry. I believe its presence alone will have no impact on the decision (unless it's part of an overall design that just works better). (less)
