Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We're a feature film production company currently branching out into digital media. Our former incarnation was ARENAFILM. Check out our films at www.arenafilm.com.au, many of them have a tough, social and political dimension. THE BANK for example took a big stick to corporate greed, our latest film BALIBO looks at the murder of 5 journalists in East Timor in 1975. We're big fans of the work of Participant Media in the US, www.participantmedia.com.

ARENAMEDIA will keep making feature films, but we're developing a whole range of cross platform screen content now, hence we need a new look.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a new logo, and stationery. It will be used to badge our films and any screen content we create.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Our work appeals to people who are looking for something more in their cinema going, who don't shy away from rigorous political debate, and engage with a range of social and political issues. As we're also shifting our focus into digital media, we'd like to appeal to emerging audiences who consume their screen content outside of the cinema.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We don't want to be too prescriptive, so I'd rather not point you to anything. Don't take any influence from our existing site, we need something new and forward looking for our business.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We don't need anything, but please shy away from any literal film images (like reels, sprockets etc).

Looking at the submissions to date, I would like to encourage designers to respond to a few key elements, although not necessarily responding to all of the points below:

* the tough, political nature of the screen content we make. I'm open to consider tough, graphic logos that can be more than a title treatment and badge our films.
* the technological direction we are taking in new media. happy to consider technology oriented icons or graphics as part of the logo.
* the concept of an "arena", the circle works better with this in mind.

Thanks!
