Auravis Systems has managed to thrive for years through word of mouth alone. Now we need a great logo and stationery to represent us on the next level of marketing. Please share your vision for our brand.

Auravis Systems is a premier audio retailer that sells and installs sound systems for customers across the U.S. Typical installations range from simple, high-quality stereo and turntable setups to upscale, no-cost-object home entertainment systems. Our market includes “audiophiles” aged anywhere from teen to 102. Our products and services are 90% audio and 10% video. They include speakers, amplifiers, source electronics, analog, cables, power protection and furniture/racks. Speakers we sell range in price from $2k to $100k each...

That's why our identity must effectively represent the ultimate in sound quality and performance. We prefer something with a little classy mystique, i.e. no literal illustrations of speakers. Beyond that, our new identity is in your hands. When we see something we like we’ll attempt to offer more direction.

Please build the original design as a vector. The company’s full name is Auravis Systems. We generally refer to ourselves as just “Auravis” but the “Systems” is required for our dot-com (thus it can be a lesser element in the logo if you so choose). We need:

Brief updates

It’s only Day 2 and we’re already thrilled with what we’re seeing. Here are the lessons we’ve learned from Days 1-2 of the project:

LIKES:

Legible fonts. Our name will appear on its own in places and we need people to see the spelling clearly, especially since it’s a unique word. We like sharp/clean, clear fonts.

Cooler colors. Silvers, blues, even golds… But please don’t let this limit your ideas; we’re learning what we like as we see it, so warm colors might be okay in the right design if they don’t look “candy-like.”

Bold design. Our logo will sometimes be used overtop of pictures, so we need a design that is strong enough to be seen over the clutter.

Seeing on black AND white. The contributions that show logos on both black and white backgrounds really help us visualize contrast.

DISLIKES:

Fancy fonts. Script, formal, clever and artsy fonts can be too hard to read (on the other hand, we do like the design play on the A and V letters as reciprocal).

Abstract icons. We’d like to avoid icons that are “way out there.”

Equalizers. Please avoid the equalizer bar as a design feature. We don’t generally include that type of light-up electronic equipment in our audio installations.
