LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Confucius

The business name is A Single Step, LLC and the tagline is going to be something like…”Begin the journey today. The rest of your life awaits.”

We are a new “boutique” or “concierge” medical practice EXCLUSIVELY treating patients who have become dependent upon prescription sedatives and painkillers. Our clinic is unique in that we offer patients an intensive, multidisciplinary approach to substance abuse treatment. We strive to make each client to feel like a valued and respected individual, not like “just another addict.” All patients will receive the round-the-clock support necessary to achieve full recovery and remission. Our entire team of clinicians, including a psychiatrist, a neurologist, an addictionologist, an anesthesiologist, a nutritionist/herbalist, an acupuncturist and a chiropractor in addition to numerous physical therapists and substance abuse counselors, will individually evaluate each patient. A comprehensive treatment plan synthesizing each clinician’s findings and recommendations will then be developed and tailored to each individual’s specific needs and circumstances. Unlike most other treatment centers in our area, we are an extremely small practice, limited to a maximum of 50 active patients.

We are located in Cocoa Beach and the office is a very contemporary, oceanfront space with a sort of a zen feel to it. All treatment rooms are built around a serene central courtyard and most rooms also have a lovely view of the water.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

First and foremost we need a logo which will provide the foundation for our corporate image. In this project we also want help developing some really eye catching stationery and business cards. We don't yet have specific colors or a certain look in mind...but, we do know that we want a very distinctive card and letterhead…something contemporary, maybe with a unique shape, a vertical orientation, or some sort of unusual material…in short, something that will stand out in a crowd while still looking professional.

We are planning to offer additional projects for a large sign, a brochure/print campaign and also a website all based upon the original logo concept

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

The majority of our patients will be referred to us from other local area physicians although we do plan to do a significant amount of direct to consumer marketing as well. Our target clients are middle and upper class adolescents and adults...primarily professionals who have become dependent upon their prescription opiate and benzodiazepine medications. We really want to set ourselves apart from “methadone clinics” and other high volume detox programs catering predominantly to indigent patients and IV heroin addicts. So, for the logo, we are looking for a high end, sophisticated concept. We have put a lot of effort into making the office look and feel more like an exclusive spa than like a medical office and we want the logo to clearly and immediately convey that same feeling to anyone who sees it.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Initially we had been leaning towards using a footstep or series of footsteps in the logo but during the last few weeks we have looked at lots of stock images online and have seen approximately 1000 different permutations of footprints in the sand...and, while we do like the concept and feel that it does a good job of conveying the idea that recovery is going to be a journey not an overnight fix, we definitely want something more...more memorable, more interesting, more out of the box.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We DEFINITELY want the entire Confucius quote to appear on the business cards and on the letterhead but in a distinctive and very subtle way…maybe as a watermark or shadow or something?? GIven the origin of the quote that inspired the name and the zen-like atmosphere of the physical space, we have been thinking about going with something that has an Asian feel to it...nothing over the top or cheesy but a hint the Far East would be cool. For example…there are always several great blue herons fishing along the shores all around the office. They are elegant and serene, they leave all sorts of cool footprints in the sand and are incredibly beautiful in flight…so, I can definitely imagine incorporating a heron or a crane (or even some cherry blossoms into the design)...but not so much a Dragon, a Samurai, or a big Chinese Fan...and, the concept certainly doesn't have to be Asian at all...we are open to suggestions and looking forward to seeing some really creative ideas.

Brief updates

I just uploaded a watercolor image of a heron that I found online. I have spent all morning looking out the office windows at a few blue and white herons and some egrets and a few pelicans and more and more I kind of like the idea of using a shore bird in the concept. I don't know if it would work but I would like to at least see someone try to use the head/neck of a heron (like the one I uploaded) as the "S" in Single Step...and then maybe we could use some heron footprints on the letterhead/cards to sort of tie everything back in to the quote?? Please don't take this as a mandate. We definitely want to limit our options and hope to see a wide range of concepts...this is just one idea that I would be interested in seeing developed. Thanks!

We had a treatment team meeting this afternoon and discussed the logo, cards and letterhead. There wasn't really a consensus but there was some significant interest in making a red/orange poppy a significant part of our "branding"...so, I am hoping that someone will maybe play with that idea as well. Thanks!!

Although undecided yesterday during the full team meeting, today, the medical director has spoken. And...poppy it is...so, please disregard the heron images that were included initially. He still feels strongly about the logo having strong connotations of professionalism and sophistication and serenity (think exclusive day spa). And, he further reiterated his preference for achieving a SUBTLE Asian feeling with the logo but is not adamant about that point...He is however adamant about two things 1) as mentioned previously he DEFINITELY wants to incorporate the image of a poppy and 2) he DEFINITELY wants the full Confucius quote somehow incorporated into the cards and letterhead. Sorry for the mixed messages. Some people just seem to be natural procrastinators and although we have been brainstorming about our "branding" for months...they waited until the project had been officially posted to really make any decisions.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just uploaded a file which is a copy of a coloring book page with a couple poppies...including a pod and a bud...this is sort of what we had in our minds...and, ideally the color would be a bright orangey-red, rather than the deeper, pinker reds that are often used for poppies...The medical director also wanted me to pass on the fact that he likes a lot of the "brush-drawn" fonts on the myfonts.com page...and, at this point he is leaning towards using all lowercase letters for the name. Thanks for all the entries so far...we will try to check for new entries regularly as we enter into the final days and will post feedback promptly. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

The medical director has now also found a page with some business cards that he really likes. The link is: http://www.tasteofinkstudios.com/silkbusinessca... he LOVES the die cut-folded example and would be thrilled if someone could come up with something that would enable him to end up with cards that were similar in some way. He also LOVES the idea of using the gloss over the flat matte background. Thanks for having a look!!
