OK, I was expecting more rebellious designers. I've got some pretty good designs of what I asked for... now throw out the rulebook (or use some of my suggestions) and come up with something that will WOW me! :)

Hello,

I forgot to comment on the edit I made to the line regarding redeemed coupons.

The original copy read:

"You count the coupons that are redeemed to make sure it's working."

I changed it to read:

"You count the redeemed coupons."

I edited the text primarily because of space issues. I needed to free up some room to make all the information fit at the size it needed to be. In reviewing the information on the back of card, that line seemed to lend itself most to being edited. I also felt the original line sounded a bit negative with "to make sure it's working." Of course ValuPump will work! :-)

However, if you'd like me to put back in the original line, or if you have other ideas for edits, please let me know.

Thanks,

Matt (less)

Hi,

Thanks for all the great feedback.

I've posted 4 new variants. On each, I replaced the bullets on the back side with numerals. Since putting them back, I'm thinking they might be better, as what the list is an actual process.

Options A and B (with the page curl) are identical except for the placement of the header type. On A, it meets the white space below it; on B it sits completely within the red space. As to which is better—I think they both work well and look good. However, my decision to make the type meet the white space in my original submissions had to do with the spacing around the type. Ideally, the red space above and below the white type would be equal. But, because of printer constraints, size of the card, amount of copy, the need for the header type to be large, and overall placement of elements, I wasn't able to makes the spaces equal. Therefore, I shifted the type down to meet the white space. To me, it's just as effective, and somewhat bridges the top and bottom portions of the card. But, having the type sitting inside the red space works too, even if the space above and below it aren't identical.

Option 3 is the inverse of the previous variant where the type was red on white, with a red bottom. Your comment was that it didn't make as much of an impact (which I agree—it didn't), so I wanted to show you the reverse. It's basically identical to option 2 but without the page curl.

You mentioned you liked the page curl. Once we narrow down the designs to one, I can incorporate or eliminate that element into any of them.

Option 4 is the solid red card with the dashed line you requested. While this works, I had to make some of the information within the box smaller so that they card would accommodate the dashed line. Because of printing constraints, I can only get so close to any edge of the card. These constraints determined the size of the dashed box.

Regarding the dashed box, while it does reference the look of a coupon, I really don't feel it's necessary. This card is itself the coupon. Given the small size of the card, I think more emphasis should be placed on the size type that is conveying the message. But, either way will work.

Regarding your concerns, I think I may have answered your question regarding the white text / white space in my descriptions of options A and B, but please let me know if my reasoning isn't clear.

Regarding the original ValuPump logo, I decided to remove the border it as I felt it made the logo look too heavy and complicated. To me, the logo looks much more modern and clean without it. In my opinion, I think you should eliminate it completely moving forward. Or, if it's the block shape that you like, I might suggest a knocked out version of the logo. The text and gas pump in a solid red rectangle. It would look just as clean, but maintain the brick shape of the original.

Please let me know your thoughts on the logo and my new variants. I'll be happy to make any additional edits or suggestions.

Best,

Matt
