LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology is a community of about 12,000 eye and vision researchers from 73 countries; we are the largest and most respected vision research organization in the world. Our aim is to help cure and prevent blindness by encouraging and assisting research, training, publication and knowledge-sharing in vision and ophthalmology.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
An icon-based logo for our 2010 annual meeting. The meeting title is: For Sight: Exploring the Future of Eye and Vision Research. Sessions at the meeting will look at changes in the field in the areas of funding, communications, technology and career paths. The logo should convey a sense of looking ahead, gaining perspective, discovery, a bit of a journey into the unknown.
The text treatment is less important to the project at this point (especially because the actual meeting title may change ...), so creatives can concentrate on the icon portion. The logo can use up to three colors but it must also work well in black or white. Good colors: oranges, blues, lighter greens, calm purples. No reds please. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE AN EYE. I'd rather it wasn't an eye at all; we are up to our eyes in eyes over here ...
Does not need to tie in with our main logo. See www.arvo.org/am for this year's meeting logo.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Researchers/scientists, neuroscientists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, general science community
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
strong
simple
instantly identifiable
useable in a variety of formats (Web site, e-mail header, various print publications, signage).
would rather not have an eye unless it's abstract.
