Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Hey there! I’m looking forward to working with all you awesome designers here at ol’ Crowdspring.

I’m the co-creator of KnowYourGut.com, where our goal is to be awesome by helping people out with their health issues in a personal, easy-to-understand way.

Our site was started by the charming Galina K. She is a former patient that was diagnosed with a supposedly “incurable” digestive illness. Galina spent more than $250,000 and 20 years traveling the world to study alternative healing methods. In time, she successfully healed herself and became a medical expert on digestive issues. She now uses her knowledge to heal her many patients, using her own unique approach to health regeneration.

The feel of the logo should be:
Bright/happy/charming/witty + Trustworthy/reliable + Soothing/healing.

So there it is!

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a logo. Firstly, it will be used on our website. Eventually, it will be used on product packaging (health supplements), and books.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Males & females, aged 18-70. That’s pretty broad, but these issues affect people of all ages. These people are looking for a natural alternative to treat their condition, so they're probably the type who shop at Whole Foods. Plus, they are most likely internet-savvy.

Digestive issues can be pretty tough to deal with, so the thing that makes our site unique is that we give expert guidance with an individualistic, light touch. Working from both a personal and a professional perspective, we hope to add whimsy or smiles to people’s lives while giving them health information they can trust.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We scoured the interweb for logo inspiration, and compiled them into two jpegs for you designers to reference, complete with our explanations.

WE LOVE THESE: http://i43.tinypic.com/24p9aat.jpg

And here are the things we'd like you to steer away from, complete with our explanations:
DO NOT WANT (careful, there's a bunch!): http://i40.tinypic.com/ibyz2g.jpg

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

THINGS WE MUST HAVE ------------------------------------

PRACTICAL NEEDS:
-Text: “Know Your Gut” or "know your gut" (you can remove the spaces if you like)
-Trademark (TM sign)
-Logo designs must be viable and as strong or stronger if photocopied in black and white.
-Works well at different sizes. Clarity, very readable.
-Try modifying the typography or making word art.
-We'd like one version with a place at the bottom for a tag line, & one without.

FEEL:
-Bright/happy/charming/witty + Trustworthy/reliable + Soothing/healing.
-Good personality. The kind of logo you’d want to be friends with.
-Sense of balance/stability.

ICONOGRAPHY:
-Natural. Modern with a twist. Freshness.

THINGS WE DO NOT WANT------------------------------------

-No clip art, unless it’s very modified and unrecognizable from the original.
-No swoops, flying wooshes, pinwheels, or italics. We like balance and stability.
-No dark/serious feel, no serif fonts. We’re about people feeling good.
-No thrown togetherness: i.e. random geometric shape + text as an unfinished thought.
-No transparency. We‘re into solidness, but not heaviness. (Gradients/shadows/reflections/3D effects/shiny surfaces are fine if they serve a purpose. We’re neutral on them.)

Thanks so much, designers! One note:

DO NOT submit multiple entries unless they're incredibly vastly DIFFERENT in shape and concept.

WOULD LOVE
-Elegant, clever icons that convey the feeling: natural, happy, balanced.
-Icons well-integrated with the text.

WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE
-Literal representations of organs or people.

WOULD RATHER NOT HAVE
-Please do not put a .com in the logo
-Not so sure about the fruit representations people have been doing. We're more about Healing (rather than Eating).

Thanks!

LOGOS WE LIKE---------------------------

Hey designers! Here's another example that will give you a better idea of the type of simplicity and wholeness we're looking for in the typography & icon: http://i41.tinypic.com/nx8d2r.jpg

TIP: Try working in black and white, before you add color. Remember, it's form first that counts.
