4 Large Illustrated Icons for Software Developer

Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

This design is for Art & Logic, Inc. (www.artlogic.com). We are a contract developer of custom software applications.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We will be replacing the 5 icons on our homepage (www.artlogic.com) with 4 new ones. Please see the attached sketch showing roughly what we want. (icon-sketch.jpg)

The new icons should fit with the general style of our website. Below is a description of each icon:

"Web Development"
This icon should show an illustration of a browser window with the most easily recognizable attributes of a website: a back button, a forward button, a reload button, a home button, and an address bar with "http://www."

"iPhone Development"
This icon is an illustration of an iPhone, showing the default home screen. For pictures of iPhones, see: http://www.apple.com/iphone/

"Mac Development"
This icon is an illustration of an iMac. For pictures of iMacs, see: http://www.apple.com/imac/ It would be nice for the iMac screen to show some typical Mac things, like a menubar at the top, dock at the bottom, and icons at the upper right.

"Windows Development"
This icon is an illustration of a typical PC. The PC should probably be dark colored, since that will look the most different from the lighter aluminum look of an iMac. See www.dell.com for photos of typical-looking PC's. It would be nice for the PC screen to show some typical Windows things, like a start button and taskbar at the bottom, and some icons at the upper left.

All of the icons should use the word "Development" instead of "Applications".

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

We are a premium services company. Our clients are well-educated and have a good understanding of the computer industry. We need to communicate that we truly understand these platforms. We want something that's clear, consistent, and perfect looking.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

The attached screenshot shows an early design that we thought was a nice start. (style-idea.png) However, we are not married to this idea. Also, note that the themes of the icons has been changed, as shown in the sketch.

We recommend testing your ideas on style-idea.png to make sure they look good on our website.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

- The icons must be of equal width and height (i.e. square), not including the text. (As shown in our sketch.)

- The icons will be resized in real-time depending on the browser window size. The smallest version will be 100px * 100px (not including the text), so they must look good at that size, and up. The original graphics should be at least 500px * 500px. Vector format would be nice, but isn't necessary.

- The icons must fit into the general style of the existing website, www.artlogic.com
