Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

I am in the process of writing an application for the Android platform. This application should be a offline/synching frontend to the Google Reader service.

The application name will likely be NewsRob. Rob -> Robot -> Android or maybe Rob as a personality. Not sure yet.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

I am looking for an application icon and a notification icon.
I need the application icon in a resolution that works for promotional material on the web and I need a png version of 48x48px for the actual application. An additional version as SVG would be a plus but not a must.

I also need a 24x24 pixel png icon for the notification that a synchronization is running and an icon of the same size that the synchronization is stopped, because of an error (possibly the same icon with a red exclamation mark in the center?).

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

People who use Google Android OS on their mobile phone.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

I am pretty open with respect to the outcome, but I like very much this design for the application icon: http://www.iconarchive.com/show/smashing-feed-i...
It would be nice if the Android (the robot) could be used instead of a guy on a bench (http://www.android.com/branding.html).

But as I am very open to the result, I could also think of a very simple icon like only a newspaper with the feed icon in it.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

I need exclusive rights to the application icon.

UPDATE:

I looked at some of the Google supplied applications and found that there logos have a transparent background and a drop shadow.

Here are two samples:

Another update on the drop shadows. Meanwhile I've seen that the actual color of the drop shadows is probably important.

I'd love to point you guys to a style guide, but unfortunately there is none and I am just trying to reverse engineer what I see in the app icons of the Google supplied applications.

ps. I forgot (sorry) to add why the color of the drop shadow is important. For one you see the app icon on some background graphic, think desktop background, that the user can set, but also it is shown in a settings menu that is grey in the same color as the drop shadows. Therefore the drop shadows of the official app icons are not seen in the settings menu as they have the same color as the background.

Thank you everybody. I've made up my mind.
You'll find an individual comment on your submission.

Again, thank you very much. That was my first submission to crowdspring and I really like the results you produced.
If only it wouldn't be so hard to make a decision looking at all those high quality submissions ;)
