LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are a specialty coffee & tea store in Salem, MA. We pride ourselves in offering expertly crafted drinks prepared by professional baristas so in that sense we are more upper scale than a Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts etc but we keep a laid back, relaxing and unpretentious atmosphere in our stores. HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We would like to redesign our logo. The only stipulation is that you must keep the face contour in your redesign without changing it. All other elements you are free to refine, discard and play with as you wish. We would like to especially improve the type and font layout of our logo so it has more impact and so it can be used on its own without the logo. We'd like a finished product that conveys quality, stands out and has a sense of fun and mystery.
Please keep in mind that the logo should be something we can use in the outside signs of our stores, our coffee cups, business cards etc.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

You must keep the face contour of the existing logo without any changes in your redesign. Anything else, type, font, coffee cup, circle you may change as you like. We would like a stronger font & type layout which complements the logo but could also be used on its own without the logo. The current logo is black and white which is fine but if you'd like to play around with colors feel free to do so.
Please keep in mind that the logo should be something we can use in the outside signs of our stores, our coffee cups, business cards etc.

Another thing I should mention is that "Jaho" is the primary name so "Coffee & Tea" do not necessarily have to be the same size or location as "Jaho." Also, try to not directly copy any existing logos, especially Starbucks. While I like their logo, we'd like to have a distinct look for our company.

Please make sure the face contour remains the defining aspect of the logo and try to blend it seamlessly into your design as it is in the original logo. A lot of people when they look at our logo now see a Yin Yang or a moon so that may be something to consider. Also it is very important to keep a coffee cup for the face to be enjoying for it to make sense as a coffee and tea logo. The cup you may redesign or change as you wish.

I've added a picture of our store from the outside so you can see how our current logo looks like as a sign. When designing, please keep in mind that your design should be able to be displayed as an outside sign for the store.

Thank you everyone for the submissions, hope you keep them coming. It's only been two days but after looking at the current submissions I think a lot of them are trying to make the logo flashier more elaborate. What we're looking for is a really clean and simple design that keeps the face smelling the coffee aroma as the focal point.
We've been in business for 3 years now so it can't be something too different from the current logo. Feel free to even keep the same design elements and just refine it to your liking or change the font. Thanks, looking forward to your work!
