Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We have about a half-dozen web apps loosely positioned around the net in private beta, with no real entity behind them. This is an attempt to give us that collective face that we can brand all our projects with when they go live. Enter Oftenepic. We are a group of innovative-yet-playful (as the name implies) developers who are looking for an iconic logo and title to illustrate our mission for creating truly new productivity applications and, more importantly, entertainment products.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We would like both the icon and the typeface to be capable of standing on their own if needed. Would like the logo to look nice on a bright or light-gray background. If someone produces a 'negative' version for use on a very dark gray/black background, that's a plus =)

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Other webapp shops and the 18-35 casual gaming demographic.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

The font should be modern and sans-serif -- in all lower-case if possible. The icon should be something minimalist and easily distinguishable in grayscale and in color. We are a big fan of grays mixed with sharp complimentary colors: orange, green, blue, etc. Though we have a fantasy of having a sci-fi-ish icon, the subject matter isn't too critical as long as it embodies our core values of being modern, innovative, yet playful. We aren't "your older brother's webapp company", we don't wear suits on magazine covers, and we do a lot of entertainment apps and we would like our logo to reflect that.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

* Would prefer to not brand ourselves with '.com', if possible.
* Please no wild letter-play w/ the typeface -- Don't mind multiple hues/sats or clever bends, but please don't merge all the letters into an icon. Would like it to still be legible and presentable in monochrome.
* NO swoosh splatters. I don't mean to stifle anyone's creativity and for some operations, a grouping of colored swooshes is probably perfect -- but we are not them ;-)

A good example of the icon-to-title weight we are looking for is something similar to www.playgreenhouse.com

Soo many good creatives for this project, this is going to be an incredibly difficult choice to make :\
