Give Back
Give Back is our community's way of helping worthy non-profit and charity causes. Creatives have agreed that for these special projects, no monetary awards will be given. crowdSPRING will waive its fees and will assist the organizations with posting their project. We will collaborate together to help those less fortunate. Give Back projects will work just like standard projects, including contracts, wrap-up, notifications, etc. To help the learning process along in these projects, we will encourage creatives to collaborate and to provide constructive feedback to each other.
We will find ways to recognize creatives whose work is selected. Among other things, we will write in our blog about the project and the winning creative, the work will appear on a Hall of Fame type page that we are developing (this page will display winning designs), and we will look for ways to profile the winning creative(s) on our home page.
We'll ask the winning creatives in Give Back projects to propose other worthy non-profits and charities that can benefit from this effort. We hope that in this small way, we can help non-profits and charities around the world.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Our organization is called Breaking the Silence. We are a UK based network supporting Dads of Autistic kids. Run by Dad's of Autistic kids (I have 2 sons with Autism) we know what a lonely World it can be when your child is diagnosed and you have nobody to talk to. There is a lot of help out there for the family units and the mums, but the dads, well they don't get much to help them to be honest. There are also groups for men only, however men struggle to go to these groups, most hide away and pretend their child is fine - so many are in denial. Many couples will split up when there is an autistic child in the family, its tough on everyone. Sadly it goes deeper than that, many men will have a mental breakdown, some will attempt suicide and sadly a few will succeed.

Men have different issues, they want to fix things and can't, they feel somehow they have failed, that heir child's condition is somehow their fault, and they will be devastated that their child won't go on to fulfil their own dreams and aspirations.

We have a few dads ready to work with us, it is all entirely voluntary. We will get referrals from the local Community Mental Health Teams and various support groups, as well as from concerned family and friends. We will try to contact the guys so we can meet them - for a coffee or a beer, to go bowling, watch a football game, and ultimately to get them to talk and if they need to cry, shout or scream. We want to be that missing link and say 'hey man, you are NOT alone'.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We are looking for an identity. We feel this is important if we are to be taken seriously. The main thing we want is a fantastic logo, it will be used on the net (lots of support groups and organisations will feature us), as well as emails, t-shirts, who knows where else. We also want some idea of a font and colour scheme to use when we are sending out information packs to people. Scraps of paper won't get read, we want people to take us seriously. We are not asking for letterheads etc, we can't afford to print anything anyway, but a 'cool' idea of how to present ourselves on paper would be great.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

The logo needs to appeal to adults, and specifically dads. There are loads of groups helping kids, mums, parents in general, but so few for Dads, and none in the way we want to - proactively rather than reactively. Of course the logo can appeal to everyone, but if it turns off the Dads, the specific target audience, then it fails. Thats as tight as we can focus the 'market', we are basically there for Dad's of Autistic kids.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We don't want to suggest anything as we want you to have a completely clean canvas to create your masterpiece on. If we put up ideas we may remove some inspiration. We are here because you are all so amazing, its not for us to suggest where you start.

OUR DESIGN ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE:

We really don't have any rules, we don't even know how 'Breaking the Silence' should be used - lower case, capitalised, we really have tried not to think about it. We want you to give us an image, you write the rules!

We do want this to be a striking logo, we don't want something wet and soft and simple, it needs to stand out and be identifiable, it may even be that we send someone a pic of the logo and tell them to look for someone wearing that logo in a crowded room, so it must be easy to recognise.

THINGS WE DON'T LIKE OR DON'T NEED FOR THIS PROJECT OR OTHER THINGS TO AVOID USING, DOING, SEEING, ETC.

Again nothing wet, we don't just want the name in a soft colour with a smile under it, we could do that! We want something amazing. It doesn't have to mean anything, we are not looking for a visual representation of 'breaking the silence', that might work but it might look awful, we just want something to show that we mean business, we are a genuine organization and we have work to do!

I have commented on all designs so far, please read through them to see what we like and don't like, it might help you all see where we are going. Can I ask that you try to avoid the colour red, it might work and in one or two it is ok, but it shouldn't be a predominant colour (spelt correctly, we're British!), many autistic kids have issues with the colour red so it is usually avoided.

Some of the designs we like are very simple, please don't let that influence you, a busy design might work if it is a good design. Keep up the good work, we are really enjoying seeing what you can all produce.

The image cS used for this project (pic of my son on the beach) is now on the system. Please feel free to use it for this project but please respect that this is a personal picture of my son and I would not want it used on any old random project. Many thanks to you all for your continued hard work.

We have been working on the tag line/slogan and have come up with this;

Supporting Dads of autistic Children....because you're not alone.

but, we are open to suggestions on the words and the way its written!

Only 3 days to go, I wish we had longer, we are really struggling to nail down one we love more than others! Give it a final push for us, see if you can make your design even better, if you have a 4 you are very close, but there are a few of you so don't rest on your idea, see if you can polish it and make us have to give you a 5!

Not long left, any exciting revisions to make me go 'wow' in the closing hours? We have not made a decision, we have 8 designers and 20 designs we are really liking, and several more that are not being ruled out, so if you think you have a last idea its worth putting it into the ring!
