but, we are open to suggestions! We did like drtweb's suggestion of;

Supporting the dads of autism

but we were not 100% sure everyone would appreciate the terminology. Personally I think it is very powerful and I read it as a clear simple statement, but we are not out to shock or offend, would love to hear your comments. (less)

I have just spent a bit of time reviewing all the designs I hadn't rated so far. If you read through the comments you will see that we don't have a particular idea yet, which means we are still wide open to being convinced. Some designs are really simple and we like that, some are complicated and we like that, we like a wide range of colours too. This doesn't give you much to go on as to what we like and don't like, so let me summarise a little;

We like good typography
The colours don't have to be soft, we are keen to stand out, though soft works too - don't be afraid to try!
Typography that stands up without the logo part is good, especially if its so powerful and identifiable you recognise it.
We want to be striking, we want people to notice us, we want to be remembered.
We don't need the words to be broken up - don't take our name literally, but it might work.
The logo doesn't have to mean anything, obscure could be good, but again it might not work if too obscure. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you 'get it' or not, its just such a strong design and so recognisable it works.
Don't be afraid to use loads of colours, though if it can be made into a 1 or 2 colour design too it might help if we need to print on the cheap.

Its really tough to criticise you guys, even the winner won't get paid, all I can do is be as honest and constructive with my comments as possible. We have a few designs we like, but we still want to see loads more before making a decision, we reckon you guys have tons more creative energy to give us yet!

Thank you to you all for taking part so far, if we have rejected your design or rated it low then please keep going, we want to see what else you have. If you haven't had a go yet then please jump in, we are really looking forward to as many creatives as possible having a go! (less)

We'd like to ask you to do something in this project that you don't typically do. It's a way to help Breaking the Silence get the absolute best logo and also a way for you to help others learn. Pick two creatives in the project and via Private Message or a public post in the project, send them some constructive feedback to their designs. Help them to improve their designs - point out things they could do better. We realize that this seems a bit odd when everyone is competing. But let's remember that the goal of this project is to help. And there's no greater gesture of helping than working and collaborating together. Let's set a great example of how Give Back projects are run, and let's show everyone the power of collaboration. Thank you!

I know people LOVE the talk bubble and although I've seen some effective uses of it, it just seems so overused this year like it's the latest trend for 2008. I think the least thing you can do for a pro bono logo is make it look timeless not circa 2008.

Can I ask that you try to avoid the colour red, it might work and in one or two it is ok, but it shouldn't be a predominant colour (spelt correctly, we're British!), many autistic kids have issues with the colour red so it is usually avoided.

Some of the designs we like are very simple, please don't let that influence you, a busy design might work if it is a good design. Keep up the good work, we are really enjoying seeing what you can all produce. (less)

We've all been frustrated with concept copying, rude behavior in public and private communications, and other inappropriate conduct. Our team spent the last few weeks putting together DRAFT standards of conduct for discussion by the entire community. We want your input! This is your chance to help us define what conduct is or is not appropriate in our community. When you can, please visit the forums and share your thoughts about the draft standards. We are discussing this issue in the first topic in the Suggestions/Improvements sub-forum. We hope to have a good discussion about these standards (these are for creatives; we will work on another set for buyers). They will affect all of you and this is your chance to work with us to shape them.

Hey Winger, thanks mate! The idea was to use exclamation marks (!), that's why it's kind of like upside down people :) But i'll give it a try and reverse it as you suggested. Thanks for the input :)

I promise that I will take the time to review and comment on every design, obviously I won't like them all, I know I will find it tough to say 'no thanks' but I will add to that by giving as much feedback as possible so you can decide to either try again or withdraw.

I am in total awe of the response so far, it has been up a matter of hours - I got the messages from Ross late last night (being in the UK) and logging on this morning I thought I would see an empty page, I was all set to start looking through the other designs and start inviting creatives to have a go at this, and i see 20 submissions. Totally fantastic! Thank you all once again, I will do all I can to keep my side of the bargain and to give you all the feedback you need.

You can do this in the activity tab by clicking "New Comment". Please reference the entry number when you are providing feedback. Remember that these projects provide great opportunities to learn and improve and that the goal is to get the absolute best design for the client - in this case a worthy non profit.
