We want a completely new and simple logo that is more powerful than the one we have now. By powerful we mean that the logo should be easily recognised and remembered. We consider our organisation as situated alongside the business sector, politics and civil society.
- Update 27-Dec-10 GMT
- Dear crowdSpring Creatives,
First of all I would like to thank you for you effort so far. I can easily imagine that it is difficult to read our minds and figure out what we a looking for here at Global Citizen. Thank for your patience!
Lessons learned so far – as far as I am concerned:
1) ICON
I am getting convinced that it will turn out to be very difficult to include GC in the icon. Also, I am pretty sure that alternatives in terms of “citizen” or “globe” illustrations might be difficult. Thus, it might be a good idea to look in other directions AND see what a “box” can be used for. Possible content in the icon / box could be:
a) Chaos to order: This is what we try to ensure. We what to make it possible for problem-solvers to navigate through myriads of information dealing with globalisation.
b) Closing the gap: This is also what we try to do – not only between rich and poor, but also between knowledge and action..
c) Collaboration: 9 billion people in 2050 … it will not work unless we start cooperating in new ways. Citizen to citizen .. but also between business, politics and civil society.
2) TEXT: Please feel free to experiment with more traditional letters “with feet” – and maybe add a very visible line to make sure that the text is not floating around in the sky. Global Citizen shall be developed into a trustworthy resource for knowledge and network. Think of us as a very good cognac.
Happy new year!
All the best
Søren
- Update 29-Dec-10 GMT
- Dear crowdSpring Creatives,
This is indeed learning by doing, also for us. I have had a chat with Thusan, my trusted CTO. Please allow us to come up with these new guidelines.
1)TEXT
Let’s give it a try again with more modern fonts – without feet. And let’s stick to GlobalCitizen, and forget about Global Citizen.net
2) ICON
Let’s give it a try with more abstract proposals that include 3 elements.
“Negative reason”: Too difficult to include GC. Also, obvious proposals including “citizen” and “the globe” are something we have all seen extremely many times before. Finding the new, not-yet-seen since-Leonardo da Vinc–proposal might be difficult. (But if you can .. the door is open).
“Positive reason”: 3 is a magic number to us at Global Citizen. We have our 3 string credo: Sharing Knowledge, Building Networks, Generating Solutions. We have our menu where all topics are found under the 3 major categories: Globalisation, Political Tools, Political Actors. Also, all info (under each topic) is divided in 3 boxes: Introduction, Facts & Figures and Database (also called Red, Green and Blue box). Last but not least we anticipate that the world will need much more cooperation between our global society’s 3 sectors: business, politicians and civil society. IMPORTANT: Remember that we are situated right between business, academics and NGO's .. please do make sure not to drag us too close to the NGO-sector.
3) COLORS
We prefer modern green (please make sure it sends a signal of “life”) grey and black – but are also open to proposals that include red and blue (and colors that we haven’t thought of yet).
Hope this makes sense and that we are not causing too much frustration..
Happy New Year!

- Update 30-Dec-10 GMT
- Dear crowdSpring creatives,
Here is another idea concerning the icon:
Please feel free to give it a try with the letter i as a symbol of information AND citizen .. AND combine this with (part of) a circle as a symbol of the earth = Global Citizen aims at providing easy access to citizen-to-citizen information about the world, because we think this is a path to solid solutions for all.
3 x i .. might be too much, but is also worth a try..
All best

- Update 6-Jan-11 GMT
- Dear all, We'll send last recommendations shortly, which is why we think it is more fair to extend the project by 1 day.
All best

- Update 6-Jan-11 GMT
- Der crowdSPRING creatives,
Please allow us to send the very last recommendations - and at the same time extend the project by 1 day. We hope that these last recommendations will be more precise and better than some of our previous recommendations.
OVERALL:
Please..
- No 3D (but adding a "gradient" to 2D versions is OK)
ICON:
Please:
- No GC in the icon (this idea doesn't seem to work)
- No "i" in the icon (this idea doesn't seem to work either)
TEXT
Please:
- Go for a slim version of the font we have already on www.globalcitizen.net
- Go for grey bold (Global) + grey normal(Citizen), and pull the two words together)
That's all .. thank you for your patience and a happy, creative new year to all of you.
Søren
