Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Media production company that creates products (scanning/transfer, slideshows, edited movies, commercials) for both consumers and professionals. We currently use the name ReeltimeDVD (http://reeltimedvd.com and http://pro.reeltimedvd.com) and will be transitioning to Storymix Media. We will have two distinct websites for both markets.

Value propositions for consumers: tell the story of your media (film, video, photos, slides, etc.) and we create a Hollywood quality movie to enjoy and share everywhere (.mov file, DVD, online photo/video gallery).

Value propositions for pros: provide/sell slideshows, event masters, and online galleries for your clients without any extra work.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A logo that includes both the text and a graphical element.

Storymix Media can emphasize just Storymix or StoryMix. We are really open to different ways to go with the name. We also are interested in differentiating the consumer and pro logos, ie. Storymix for consumer and Storymix Media for pro or Storymix Media Pro for the pro site. The text should be flexible enough to add/remove Media and Pro without an issue.

The graphical element would be great if it can stand on its own. It does not have to be literal, but as seen in our old logo it can be.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Consumers - mass audience, anyone with photos, slides, film reels, video tapes, digital video, etc. who wants to preserve and/or create something cool to tell and share the story of their memories.

Pros - wedding, portrait, senior photographers who need/want solutions to provide digital products to their costumers.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Classic logos with strong fonts that stand the test of time:

IBM, Ford, GE, Sony, Goodyear

More modern logos:
Apple, Nike, Freeway (www.softpress.com), amazon

Two additional things to consider.

Our website design is pretty much set so the logo should work well with the text and colors (the pro site can use a simple white or outline). It should also fit in the relative space of the current logo.

The second thing is it would be good if either the graphic or a version of the text cav fit into a square avatar box for use in twitter, facebook, etc.

Seems like designers are focusing on the highest ranked design and doing derivates from it.

It might be better to see some other ideas that go in a different direction. We certainly have not decided upon one basic design yet.

First, thanks for all of the submissions. We are a bit overwhelmed by the quality.

Just to let everyone know our plans, we'll be taking our top choices and asking friends and customers to rank their favorites before making our decision. It worked well in coming up with our name.

So at this point it is still wide open on which design will win.

Good luck.

A lot of the designs focus on film which is ok.

It would be great to see some ideas which meld or transform the idea of analog (film, photos, videos) to digital.

Just an idea.

Thank you to everyone who sent in designs. Really great work and very pleased. We've selected the top 11 logos and will be soliciting feedback to help us make a decision. It will probably take the full 7 days before we choose.

Thanks again.
