Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are a nationwide provider of B2B financial services in need of a major upgrade to our corporate identity (go to www.directcapital.com to see current logo - ha). We help small businesses access capital to succeed. We are very focused on connecting with small businesses, building relationships with them, and guiding them to their destination with the financial services we offer. We offer flexibility and attention that businesses often can’t get from a bank or other lending source.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A fresh corporate identity (logo, business cards, letterhead)

What we’re striving for:

- Trust, integrity, relationship, connection. We want it to feel like a major financial services company but also reach out to the small business and embrace them, connect with them, and display that we are their advocate.

- The logo should include a graphic element with the company name Direct Capital, but we’re open to how those letters are displayed.

- You do not need to include the word “corporation” in the logo.

- This is a registered trademark so please also include the little ®

- For 15 years, we have used the same blue – PMS 289, but we’re open to looking at fresh colors

- Clean, unique and creative

- Needs to look good black and white.

- If you use a background color, please make sure it is not an integral part of the design.

- The logo must work equally well on white (primary), black (secondary) or any dark-color background.

- If there are gradients, the logo must function if they are replaced by solid color.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Small businesses!

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

I agree with a previous project - All things apple - so clean and iconic!
a lot of great ones in here also: http://vector.tutsplus.com/designing/30-brillia...

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Our socks knocked off :) - let's see what you got!

Feel free to focus on logo first. I don't want to waste your time on b-cards and stationary until the logo makes progress. Thanks

Two other great examples to provide direction:
www.credit.com - see how they wrapped the "t" around the "i" - great stuff
www.sovereignbank.com - the street light just says "personal small town banking"

Just hoping to guide you more to the goal - thanks

There seems to be too much focus on creative use of the "D" and "C". We're really looking for an icon/logo that connects with and embraces small businesses. Two examples I keep sharing with people are www.cedit.com (see how the "t" embraces the "i" - that's perfect) and www.sovereignbank.com (the lighpost lamp really says small community personal banking). Those are the types of defining icons we are searching for - thanks!
