Hey guys. It's time for Roman to share his 2 cents about this issue. So grab a drink, sit back and enjoy the read.

As far as the winning entry, I agree with the other designers. As a creative I don't see what the logo says about the company, it's way too generic to describe anything, and the typography leaves something to be desired. Comparing this to the wonderful entries and stationery presentations seen here (primarily Bonic, Dorian, Barbarella, Mircha, Intrepid among others) is like comparing the knowledge of a university professor to a first grade student, it is that much of a difference in appearance, quality and meaning.

That being said, the buyer does have a final say in what he/she wants, it is just peculiar to see a creative who just registered a day back and with one entry wins $800 with a generic logo, something just doesn't add up there but I don't want to assume anything. I guess the other contest for black pearl (which has no winner as of yet) will determine how legitimate the buyer is with his decision (or indecision) about that contest.

So my final word to scants, If you are for real, enjoy your new logo but please be more involved in your own contests, we designers put way too much effort into these things to be ignored, and it frustrated all of us. If this is some kind of joke then I hope the good folks at crowdspring do something to prevent these activities.

As a final note I am proud to be a member of such a diverse group of wonderful and creative designers. It's good to see us speak our minds when something like this happens as well we should. Good luck to everyone in the future.

I don't know, it's hard to me to get upset about these kinds of things. Design and art are very subjective... It all comes down to what the buyer wants. I could come up with the most elaborate design in the world that takes me a few hours to do, but if the buyer wants something flat with plain text ... (more)

I could come up with the most elaborate design in the world that takes me a few hours to do, but if the buyer wants something flat with plain text and no shading or depth that takes someone two minutes to make, then that's what he's going to buy. I might not like the logo that was awarded, but I'm not the one buying it. However, I do agree that feedback should have been left to steer the rest of us into the right direction. (less)

i think it's time to click "Contact Us". this is just too obvious.

i wouldn't mind losing if i do find the winning entry award-worthy than the other competitors. just not fair.

i did not invest much time in this contest but i have watched it and after seeing awesome work from designers like barbarella, dorian4point, denilicious, bonic and others and seeing what won....damn...sorry guys..i mean i know the client has the final say but come on...
