Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

EPRA (Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams LLP) is a medium-sized group of defense lawyers in Savannah, GA who desperately need a great logo. Some of the nouns & adjectives that resonate as their identity (i.e. define them) are integrity, efficiency, confidence, trust, traditional, solid, balanced. Their current tagline (which they hate) is "Efficient, Expert Legal Representation for the Southeastern United States". Creatives, if you can come up with a brilliant tagline that would be a HUGE bonus (but not absolutely necessary)

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a logo that looks great when printed in B&W or faxed so darker colors like navy blue, midnight blue, a darker turquoise mixed with darker silvers and grays (75% and up) would work well but we're very open to seeing other colors if you feel they better communicate the adjectives mentioned above. The key words to keep in mind when thinking about color for this project is "traditional" and "conservative".

The logo will only be shown on a white background so please don't show reversed logos (white on black). We need to see a horizontal logo with all the words (Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams LLP) spelled out and a more concise logo with only the letters (EPRA). The catch is that even the concise version(EPRA) needs to have the full name spelled out below it. EPRA loves balance so they don't want anything that doesn't feel symmetrical (nothing off-center or unbalanced).

One Icon EPRA would like to see as a logomark (or mixed with the letters EPRA) is historical and architecturally beautiful column(s) as seen on old buildings. Keep in mind that Savannah, GA is one of the oldest cities in the United States (founded in 1741) so history is important and columns represent stability, confidence, balance, and tradition. ERPA is very open to seeing other images/icons as well.

Logo will be shown on website, letterhead, envelopes, business cards, emails, brochures, signage and word documents.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Target audience varies greatly from individuals (ages 28-90, equal gender, wide range of income levels) to large corporations. Mostly traditional southern people from the southeast region.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

White background only (must look great when printed in B&W)

Would like to see darker colors like navy blue, midnight blue, a darker turquoise mixed with darker silvers and grays (75% and up) would work well but we're very open to seeing other colors

Please show 2 versions if possible. (1.) A horizontal logo with all the words (Ellis, Painter, Ratterree & Adams LLP) spelled out and (2.) A more concise logo with only the letters (EPRA). The catch is that even the concise version (EPRA) needs to have the full name spelled out below it. EPRA loves balance so they don't want anything that doesn't feel symmetrical (nothing off-center or unbalanced).

Fonts: EPRA prefers serif over san-serif but is open to seeing both. Prefer medium weight fonts with equal weight of font to logomark (i.e. logomark should be the same size as the font - not larger or smaller)

One Icon EPRA would like to see as a logomark (or mixed with the letters EPRA) is historical and architectually beautiful column(s) as seen on old buildings. Very open to other ideas as well.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things we don’t like or don't need for this project or other things to avoid using, doing, seeing, etc.

ERPA doesn't want to see any modern, web 2.0, cutting-edge, beveled, embossed, or gradients. They also don't want to see any swooshes like the bride in this logo (http://www.huntermaclean.com/) or squares like in this logo (http://www.savannahga.gov/cityweb/SavannahGaGOV...)

Colors EPRA doesn't want to see are orange, red or yellow.

Brief updates

At this point, we have a lot of strong column versions to show so I'd like to start opening this project up to other ideas. The only icon I really don't want to show is justice scales. Type treatments also are welcome as well if you don't want to include an icon and feel your typography is strong enough to stand on it's own.
