Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We have a gym in Boulder, CO called the Alpine Training Center. The gym is focused on training athletes to be strong, fast, and light in the alpine setting. We train mountaineers, climbing guides, sport climbers, adventure athletes, runners, and more. Many of our athletes come to us for help in training for expeditions, guide certifications, or extreme endurance events. Our workouts are intense 1 hour session focused on total functional fitness.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We are building a website for the training center and need the first landing page. The landing page should set establish a design which communicates being strong, fast, and light in the alpine setting. The website will be used by our customers to learn about what we do, the training, scheduling, watching videos of workouts, and profiling athletes in our gym.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Our customers are extreme mountain athletes. Many of them are professional mountaineers. This is not a normal gym where people just to go to workout. Athletes come with a goal in mind and have a much higher level of dedication and know a lot more about how and why to train than the average gym rat. Almost all of our athletes are looking to translate their fitness in our gym into their sport in the mountains. Most of our customers are heavily involved in the mountain sport community whether it be mountaineering or skiing.

To learn more about our community see the American Mountain Guide Association, http://www.amga.com.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Our gym was birthed out of a gym in Jackson Wyoming called Mountain Athlete (http://mtnathlete.com) and the website will similar focus and features. Please consult this website for the basic features. Another extreme gym is Gym Jones (http://www.gymjones.com).

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

The top 5 navigation items will be: Training, Scheduling, Athletes, About, and Gallery.

We do not want a black, heavy design, even though the gym is extreme. The founder of the gym is a woman and has become known for a friendly but challenging style of training that we want emphasized in the design of the website. Please watch this video to learn more about Connie's training style: http://www.vimeo.com/6302871

The site will have lots of multi-media content profiling athletes and workouts so the design should allow for that.

The site should be simple and uncluttered. It should be very easy to navigate.

Based on a couple of the submission, the main caption should be "Strong, fast, light" or "Want to be strong, fast, and light in the mountains?" or "Train to be strong, fast and light" or some variation. The name of the gym is Alpine Training Center.
