LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

MaxiForce Traffic Control Bollards is a product line developed by Blue Ember Technologies LLC. Bollards are essentially 'posts' that are installed in the ground to prevent unwanted vehicle traffic from protected areas. MaxiForce manufactures both standard fixed units as well as unique and operable specialty bollards that address maintenance, quick access and life safety concerns. We sell bollards into many different markets including: Educational (K-12 & College/University), Commercial, Government (Local, State, National), Recreational (Parks / Trails), Industrial, Hospitals, etc.

Our products are seen in both the built environment and in more natural settings of parks and trails.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a new look and feel for our product website (non-commerce). We will be replacing the site seen at www.maxiforcebollards.com with a new design. We have a new logo (attached) and we are open to any color scheme except for dark backgrounds with white text. The design should be tailored to fit browser resolutions of 1024 x 768 and up. There must be 4 pages designed as follows:

1. The main page - looking for the following elements:

Header Navigation: New Logo (attached), Home, About Us, Info Request, Search (text box and button)

Image Bar: We will have rolling content here. Content is yet to be developed. Use attached image (path.jpg) as background or make a new one. Don’t let this take up so much of the screen that the content below can't be seen without scrolling. Forward and back slide buttons and a small square representing each of 8 slides should be part of the image bar/pane.

Primary Navigation Menu (no submenu roll-outs required)
Buttons/Links labeled: Products, Build-A-Bollard, Resource Library, Applications & Photos, Educational, Tools

Secondary Navigation Menu (maybe a menu right under the rolling image bar?)
Buttons/Links labeled: Collapsible, Removable, Retractable, Fixed, Custom, Accessories

Footer contents: Contact Us, Feedback, News & Events, Terms and Conditions, Site Map, © 2009 Blue Ember Technologies, LLC - All Rights Reserved

Body
- There must be 3 content blocks which will act as navigation to our main visitor types
- These can be a part of graphical header bar or can be in the body of the page

The three blocks are:
i. Architects & Specifiers
- Button to go to specific content page
- Background image of architect or CAD drawings or something similar (if design needs it)

ii. General Contractors & Installers
- Button to go to specific content page
- Background image of steel beams, concrete being poured or similar (if design needs it)

iii. Owners & End Users
- Button to go to specific content page
- Background image of professionals with scenery in background or similar (if design needs it)

- A ‘Feature’ content block which we will dynamically populate with product data

- Include the following icons somewhere on the main page: twitter, facebook, slideshare, Linked in, RSS

2. Secondary Content Page - Similar to the main page with a much narrower header bar and similar look/feel. All navigation menus must be present.

3. Secondary Content Page (GREEN) - Same as secondary content page above but must have a “Green” (environmentally friendly) color scheme.

4. Product Detail Page - Please visit the following link to get an idea of the product information needs: http://www.maxiforcebollards.com/ProductDetail....

Re-use data and images seen at the link above to show off a data populated version of the newly designed product page. Again, all navigation menus must be present.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

We see the majority of our web traffic from Architects, Engineers, General Contractors and End Users from many segments (listed above in the ‘Project brief’ section).

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We are leaving the design wide open as long as it contains all of the items listed above.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We do not want to see white text on dark backgrounds. Dark colors can be used for design elements but not as the primary background color.

Brief updates

Here is some additional feedback regarding design concepts:

1. There needs to be room for a couple paragraphs of copy in the body of the main page.

2. Our logo is orange but we don't necessarily have to have orange as the prominent color in the site.

3. We really like the page seen here: http://www.templatemonster.com/website-template...
The header bar needs to be much thinner but we like how the top of the page is treated with the two toned curved border and the logo in line with the top navigation. We also like how the sub menu is integrated into the graphical header and how the left menu is also used. We don’t need to see an exact replica of this but appreciate how the navigation is used.

4. http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes...
This page has a very nice color scheme and menu layout. We like the tabs at the top, and the menu at the left. The placement of the 'Marketing', 'Management' and 'Outsourcing' sections would also be a great way to present our three user segments. This design consolidates a lot of elements into a small well designed top section. This design is very nice. Please take a good look at this one, we like it a lot.

5. http://www.templatemonster.com/website-template...
We aren’t necessarily impressed with this design's layout (at all), but we do like the color scheme and how the gradients are used to tie in and highlight the various elements.

6. http://www.templatemonster.com/website-template...
Again, there isn’t anything about this actual design we would like in our site but we do like the colors used which could be applied to the ‘Green’ sub page we are looking for. Don’t use these colors or the design on our main page.

Hopefully this helps! If we think of anything else we will be quick to post it.
