Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

QualitySolicitors.com is a network of lawyers across the UK. The lawyers have been chosen by the public as being the absolute best, most customer service focused lawyers around. It is the public's feedback the determines whether or not a law firm can remain in the network.

So, when people need a lawyer, rather than look through directories or browse the internet, they come to us. The either call us or they complete our webform and we then contact them and connect them to the most suitable QualitySolicitors.com member law firm.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We have an existing website that we would like to give a design overhaul. The site is qualitysolicitors.com. We want to de-clutter, web 2.0, simplifyy and stylise it! The only necessity is retaining a description about us (i.e. "the best lawyers - chosen by you" and the text the follows, which will change actually in content but that's not really important right now!), a web-form which should be as accessible as possible (but also needs redesigning), a clear phone number and our logo (which itself can't be re-designed as it is too deeply part of all our material). The colours - black, "pink" and white should remain the base colours. Other than that - all is up for grabs!

I'd be inclined to included some icons in place of the purely text navigation, given the absence of photos, and unclutter lots of the stuff making it clearer and more engaging visually. I'd like to see a re-design (consistent across the pages of course) for the following pages:

Homepage
Why use us
Guides, articles and news and
An example page containing one of the news stories eg: http://www.qualitysolicitors.com/a7-guide-to-di...

Every page should contain the webform.

The navigation can be played with in terms of where it is, how it is accessed etc. but the basic site map ought to remain the same.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

We want the site to be more modern and fresh. We are trying to drag the (usually not fun!) process of getting a lawyer into the 21st century.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

Crowdspring (!), behance.com, played around with this on wordle which looks quite cool: http://www.wordle.net/show/wrdl/1213620/Quality... - quite like the general "W" hotel style. Basically we want the site to look more web 2.0 than it does at present whilst retaining the colours and logo and basic site map structure. General want it to be simple and functional but in a really visually attractive way!

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

See above. Webform and phone no on every page and retention of the existing logo.

Brief updates

For the avoidance of doubt do NOT think of this as a law firm website! No statues of justice, scales, law books, stock images of men in suits etc! Think sleek, stylish, modern website that just happens to be a kind of "find a lawyer" service. We're aiming to differentiate from the typical law firm or legal directory site!

One other thing. I'm open to a design trying the inclusion of a sort of: "This is how it works" on the homepage; i.e. 1. Give us a call or complete the form. 2. Chat to our case-handlers about why you need a solicitor. 3. We'll connect you to the best suited QualitySolicitors.com member law firm with suitable (and clever - not stock(!)) icons). I'm also prepared to consider animated/drawn characters on the site, but strictly no cheesy stock photographs!

Sorry! Another update after looking at some work on a similar project. I DO NOT want the classic istockphoto big photo/illustration at the top with some text underneath type website. I want something innovative and functional and design lead. Something like what has been done here with CrowdSpring in a way - with clever use of fonts and graphics etc to create a unique, modern site. I repeat - big stock photo at the top with text underneath in the tired old style will not cut it!!

Final update! Note that - at least on the homepage - the webform needs to be the key item; that is the goal of the site, to get people to complete that. The phone no should also be fairly prominent. Thanks!

Note. I DO NOT want someone to just juggle around the existing site boxes or just add a few icons. I can do that. I want a totally redesigned site. Again, for clarity, all that needs stay in the icon, a webform (but not the same one), and somewhere for a small amount of text. There will not need to be the "excellence" boxes nor that "crazy tips" boxes etc. Please totally redesign, pretend you have never seen that homepage save for the colour and the logo and design my a totally different website from the current one - otherwise you're wasting you time! Something orginal, cool, sassy, sophisticated, clear, simple and engaging!

Look at Pederosa for someone who has tried to redo the site from scratch. I'd like to see lots of other efforts but at least he's tried to redesign the site as requested; more people prepared to make fundamental changes please!

Note the sites I like in this brief and in my comments to Perderosa - esp CrowdSrping!!

Thanks,

Craig

Hi, please note our site is quite wide (I'm not sure the technical pixel width but you can see). I would want to keep that width so please ensure your designs follow that layout. I'm still yet to see a really clean, crisp, Crowdspring style inspired attempt...

Another site I like for clarity and width (if not the design which is a bit lacking). Give our site the clear, visible nature of this with a stylish, cool design and then we're talking!!

Hi all!

Just for another idea - see the attached file; this is my (terrible!) attempt at styling our site in the www.globrix.com minimalist sytle. I'd really like to see someone have a go at using that as an influence and designing something along the lines of my drawing, with the Globrix theme. Don't feel the need to stick rigidly to my drawing - try and approximate Globrix as best as you can. I think this could be an interesting angle.

Thanks!

Craig
