Creative brief

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

I am a U.S. Soldier, and a male nurse. I have been wanting to start a Blog for a very long time, but I'd also love for it to have a great LOGO/identity associated with it that embodies my personality, and the military and nursing themes, simultaneously.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

I would like this LOGO to say:

"a Soldier and a Glove"
Tag-line: "Probing Life Relentlessly"

I would like for this LOGO to be colorful, and humorous..."Probing" is a play on words that integrates the "Nursing" theme.

I envision a LOGO that makes use of light colors like white and blue, much like one would think would be associated with typical hospital garb. I have many ideas for this LOGO, and I know there are many ways that a 'nursing/medical' theme could be integrated, simultaneously to a Military/Army theme. (Think "Stethoscope", "IVs", "Light Blue Latex Gloves".......Army Camouflage colors/ army uniform/ etc.)

Perhaps display an icon of a soldier, reaching out, while pulling a light blue latex/hospital glove on?....with a sparkle in his teeth like he's mildly mischievous (a Play on the idea that he may be about to 'really' "Probe" a patient....".....I know this may be difficult, but I'd like to capture a universal humor with this, rather than give very overt gestures and signs of homosexuality.

This character should be tough and strong (Perhaps tattoos, like I have...)....not overly muscular, but fit and in shape (roughly 205 lbs./lean muscle) but, at the same time, also give off a sense of caring and determination....

.......

For the actually lettering, think about perhaps utilizing a red hospital medical "plus-sign" as the "and" in the LOGO.....or, I'm open to seeing it displayed either way....

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Just about anyone who is interested in reading about the daily blog entries of a soldier/male nurse. Many of my posts will probably be more geared towards military and nurses....character and lettering should embody humor/personality that they would immediately find appealing and interesting enough to explore further....

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

I always liked the top LOGO that Tyler Cruz uses for his blog...
http://www.tylercruz.com/

HERE is an old archived website with a military-type character that I always found appealing...

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

I really like the idea of integrating some nursing/medical themes. I think "Probing" would go well with a character that has a latex glove on....that he is snapping at his wrist....ready to undergo a "procedure"....

Prior to posting this project, I did contact crowdSPRING to see if it would be OK to first ask for rough sketches from all those creatives who are interested in participating in this project. I deeply value both our times, and, even though I'm not a graphic designer, I know I've put out 'alot' of elements in my LOGO brief.....

I know that the creatives work very very hard here, so I would also do my very best to give adequate and timely feedback about designs. With being so unfamiliar with the logo design process, if requesting sketches first will make the process a little easier on your end, then I would love to see your ideas!

......also, I have been brainstorming that Tag-line....

I would really like to maintain the word "Probing", but if you can think of a different one, I'd certainly be open to that, as well....

Thank you!

Creatives:

Think about 'sandbags' or 'helmets' or anything that may be integrated that could embody a 'military' type theme....while also capturing a nursing/medical theme....

....I suppose some actual pictures of myself would help to individualizing this LOGO, and making it more personalized.....I just uploaded some upon request of some interested creatives....

I apologize for not having those uploaded...if there's anything else that might be useful, just let me know!

If any creative's have a 'better' way of meshing the two themes of military, and nursing, in a way that would be somewhat humorous, personalized, and interesting for a blog, I'd love to see your ideas....

I know I have thrown alot of elements 'out there'....for this reason, I had included a request for initial 'sketches' in the project briefing....of course, I am open 100% to whatever feels most comfortable to you, as the creative.....

thank you!

...Upon request of a few creatives, I have included a picture of my arm tattoo....while the picture was taken in 2004, because of the permenancy of tattoos, it looks pretty much the same today....just a little faded...

........I'd like to open this project up to even greater creative flexibility.....If it is difficult to embrace what I have described, I am willing to diverge from the "Soldier/Glove" idea......if anyone can think of a creative way to synthesize a military and nursing theme, in somewhat of a humorous way, while displaying how I would like my Blog to essentially be an 'exploratory' adventure of my life, and hobbies, and various other happenings....

I do like the word "Probing" in the tag-line, but, if anyone can think of any other way to integrate these themes, I'd definitely be open to your ideas!
