LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

We are a web based video archive for the Norwegian school (elemetary school through High School):

NRK is the public broadcaster in Norway, and NRK Skole (“skole” meaning “school” in norwegian) is a fast growing Internet video archive with currently more than 3.000 video clips targeted for educational use in elementary school to high school.
The content is brought from NRK’s vast video archive. It is edited and organized according to the teaching plans for the norwegian school, and uses “topic maps” so that the students easily can find related content by browsing.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We are planning to have an official launch of the website this winter (november / december), and wish to have a new logo for promoting the website. The logo should be suitable for the following:

1) New website logo:
For the green top banner on our website (http://nrk.no/skole/) where it says "Skole" with a fancy font. We plan to keep the banner background and only replace the "Skole" text with the winning logo

2) Video poster:
The logo should also work as a video poster, that the future videos can fade over to when ending (see attached picture)

3) Logo icon:
In school they use on-line Learning Managment Systems (LMS), where teachers can post references to content from our website. When they post references to our website we wish to have a thumbnail version of the logo.

4) Logo on giveaways:
For promotion of our website we plan to order some giveaways for students (rulers, USB sticks etc). The logo should be suitable for printing on such items.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Our primary target is:
Students from ages 6 - 18 years old (elemetary school through High School)

Secondary target:
Teachers

“NRK” is the public broadcaster in Norway, and dominates the media scene in Norway with three tv channels and a dozen radio stations.
At Internet, “NRK.no” is the website that has the third most traffic in Norway, competing with the two largest newspapers.
“NRK Skole” has ambitions of being a main contributor to the norwegian e-learning scene, and cooperates with the main Learning Management Systems which cover almost 100% of norwegian schools.
There are approximately 700.000 students in our target audience, who all have very good knowledge of NRK.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

We want the logo to be creative, and appeal to our primary target. We want the contributions to be as unique as possible, therefore we do not want to give any specific ideas to be inspired from.

When we have received the contributions we will do a market survey with a group from our target audience. This will help us decide what contribution goes off with the first price.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We must have "NRK logo" as first part of our logo. The NRK logo is "holy", and must not be altered in any way.

We want something that's visually striking and easily recognized as NRK Skole.
