LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
I'm a programmer in Spain working on a web app on the side.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
The app will work like guitarmasterclass.net, but only for flamenco classes, given by people in Spain.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Customers are mostly people outside of Spain who lack access to good flamenco teachers (including current students of the teachers on the site).
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
http://www.flamenco-world.com - captures the flamenco feeling and isn't too cheesy (like esflamenco.com).
http://winelibrary.com/ - the colors really fit with the theme, and the design is clean and crisp, no frills
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
I want the design to clearly reflect the ability to think from an HTML/
CSS viewpoint and not just using any typeface or arrangement of
elements. The site needs to be translated and it cannot have a huge
number of image-based text elements. Also I'd prefer creatives who
have experience working with HTML first, then photoshop. That's really
the ideal approach for me but since it's not possible here, I'd like
to know the creative can work this way, especially if he's to be
engaged down the road with the same design.
Regarding the 'feel'. Many of these designs look like fairly standard
embellishments of what I originally posted. I'm hoping for someone to
use some more creative design elements (photos for example) to give a
more 'flamenco' feel to the overall design, and the front page
especially. See my higher rated designs and comments that reflect this.
The front page needs to prominently display the main sample video, a
list of 'why sign up' and a few cross-sells to other sample videos. So
far the best entry that captures this is:
http://www.crowdspring.com/var/crowdspring/stor...
The artists are well-known and their names should be prominently
displayed on this page too.
I think I only need samples of the front page and video page to be
satisfied with the creative's work. Those two are the most important.
The other pages can be worked out later using similar elements.
Lessons have 5-10 videos each.
The video page should also be simple and not display tons of different
elements. It needs to have: the video, a few pieces of data about the
video, comments and a way to see the other videos in the same lesson.
There are no rules about how these are placed but they don't all have
to be visible at all times. This is not youtube which is designed for
quick navigation around the site, but rather an educational video that
people will spent a lot of time repeating. Only the most useful
elements to that purpose should be prominent.
I hope this helps you understand my needs better. Please ask whatever
questions you need to.
