Beehive Pizza is a wood-fired pizza restaurant under development near Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine. We will be producing our food from locally grown, organic ingredients as much as possible.
We want to find a suitable logo that will help form the basis for all our graphics, including a web site, menus, signage, t-shirts and hats, etc.
Our target audience can be divided into three groups. First, the local population, comprised of people working in the fishing, boatbuilding, and tourist-support industries, as well as education and marine biological labs. Second, the students of College of the Atlantic. Third, tourists, who come largely for Acadia National Park.
Acadia National Park is unique in the national park system, for its many carriage roads, and it extensive network of trails, many meticulously built by the many wealthy Summer residents and "rusticators" of the early 20th century. The park supports a local population which is heavily into hiking, biking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, and other outdoor activities.
The area also supports a burgeoning organic farming economy.
The name "Beehive Pizza" comes from a popular formation and hike in the park called "The Beehive", a steep granite hill that has the shape of a beehive from certain angles.

Sorry - wish I had some better shots on me. ]
The final name for the restaurant may end up being "Beehive Pizza Factory", or "Beehive Pizza Barn", or "Beehive Pizza ". Or maybe just "Beehive Pizza".
The building to house the restaurant is being constructed from the timber frame of an old barn [ see attached rendering ]. The interior will have a lot of big old wood beams and such, with a large hand-build wood-fired pizza oven prominently placed. The resulting building may not look exactly like the drawing, but it will be very close.
The environment will be casual and fun, hopefully attracting many energetic patrons. Imagine FuelTV, climbing and skiing films on the TV over the bar. But also Red Sox games. We are thinking of throwing up a small bouldering wall in one area. There is a popular bike shop across the street. Also imagine us supporting local running, biking, climbing events, and having the "after parties" at our place. Etc.
Hopefully this gives you an idea of what we are trying to create. The "style" of the graphics used is completely TBD - we are open to anything at this point.
