LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Flashtalking is a young and dynamic London-based rich media studio & adserving solution. Our clients include media and creative agencies who use our unique technology and tools to create cutting edge and dynamic online rich media ad campaigns.

We are launching a monthly award for the most creative and/or innovative Campaign of the Month. The concept for the awards is to reward the un-sung heroes behind each winning campaign. The awards are meant to be fun and reflect our company ethos; they’re definitely not a ‘formal awards ceremony’ kind of thing.

We would like to give our awards an identity of their own via a playful but professional Flashtalking Superhero “character”. The character will become the brand icon for the awards and be used in web, print, on various marketing materials and potentially turned into a physical ‘toy’ (though this is not an initial requirement.)

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

1) We are looking for an edgy, clean and playful cartoon-like Superhero character designed to officially represent and become the easily identifiable icon of the awards. The look and feel of the character needs to convey a sense of fun & expertise in the rich media industry.

There needs to be a good balance in the tone & character so that the character feels ‘cool’, approachable and yet still professional.

2) In addition, we are looking for any suggestions and ideas on the title and/or wording of “Flashtalking’s Campaign Heroes of the Month”.

Depending on the response to these suggestions, we would like a separate logo of the Superhero character integrated with the title, e.g. ““Campaign of the Month”.

3) We are also looking for any suggestions for the Superhero character name, e.g. ‘SuperFlash’ or ‘Flash-man’

Deliverables:

1) Individual Superhero character icon
2) A logo for the awards combing the Superhero character with the name of the awards (‘Flashtalking’s Campaign Heroes of the Month’ and/or your own suggestions.)
3) Suggestions for the name of the awards.
4) Suggestions for the name of the Superhero character.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Media and creative agencies who use our unique technology and tools to create cutting edge and dynamic online rich media ad campaigns. Specifically, we are targeting the creative staff who are the un-sung heroes behind each winning campaign produced.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

In order to better understand our requirements, we make specific reference to the style, design and general ethos of these other sample characters:

What we like in these particular characters are

• slightly mischievous
• good design style
• good colour schemes, warm, friendly, positive

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Don’t like manga-style (too aggressive)
Not too cuddly (but still rounded!)
Not Disney-like (but still fun & playful)

Brief updates

Important note: this project is NOT for the Flashtalking company logo. The company logo, if used, should not be altered in any way from it's current design.

We thought it would be useful to confirm a few things:

Our target audience:
50/50 male / female split
20-30 years old, working in creative and media

We don’t want to bastardize the flashtalking logo.
We’re not conviced the flashtalking logo needs to be part of the 'Campaign Heroes of the Month' logo – but if you would like to give it a try it must be as it appears on our site (colour can be changed.)
31-Jul-09 3:18 p.m. GMT
As an alternative to a superhero approach try thinking of the character as a spokesperson announcing the campaign heroes of the month, rather than being a superhero him/her self.

To clarify the point we are not only interested in super-hero characters, or childlike / cartoonish characters - below uses unusual characters to convey a funky trendy message that appeals to our target audience.
