Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

The product is an iPhone App that is used to download business contact details from Jigsaw.com. They have over 2.5 million businesses registered and over 13 million business cards in their system.

It's for exchanging contact info. It hooks into a Enterprise 2.0 contact sharing service. So you subscribe to the service and download business contacts to this contacts application. The's the first stage in the apps development routemap. It's going to end up being a tool for businessmen to find out about other companies. I'm going to link in data from crunchbase.com, compete.com etc so it's really about discovery!

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

The logo is basically the left side profile of a caveman looking to the left, with his mouth wide open screaming, and 4-5 inch dreadlocks standing on end. I'm kinda reminded of Chris Cornell during his short spikey hair phase, if you recall that. If not, look it up. :) I think he's kinda excited and for some reason i seem his head being dark, (all that evolutionary hair?) and purply energy flowing through him/his dreads.

The word 'ixcitable' needs to appear as part of the logo, but must not interfere with the caveman. Mainly because I need to reduce the word so it appears nicely in the title bar in the iPhone app. So it needs to be clearly legible at approx 24 point size, when reduced to that.

The logo should be of at least size 128x128.

THE LOGO HAS GOT TO LOOK EXCITING, LIKE IT'S ALIVE!

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

Salesmen, businessmen. We want them to get excited about discovering new people and business opportunities through using our app. We want them to think how easy it is using this app.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

The Evernote logo. www.evernote.com Love the dark elephant head, and how it's carved into the image.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

DO NOT reproduce a cheesy cartoon character style caveman's head. We are looking for an accurate realistic reproduction, something you would expect to see in Scientific American magazine. If you are thinking Flintstones, you have got the wrong idea.

I'm wanting the word and a logo to go with it. Both should be able to stand on there own, without looking as if the other is missing. Mainly because the word needs to sit nicely in the iPhone's navigation bar, and the logo will be placed on the applications iPhone icon, alone.

both must look good on a white background. ie a transparent/alpha background.

both should scale well when made small.

can't match jigsaw.com logo colours.

I am thinking of keeping the Apps toolbar green as you saw, so keep that in mind. Either green or metalic blue, or sky blue.

nothing retro, like a crappy old Windows icon.

I think serif font would be harder to read than san serif font, but prove me wrong if you like.

I'm quite attached to the dots on the lowercase i's, but again persuade me otherwise if you feel like it.

It must convey user excitement, maybe the use of electricity or an effect reminicent of neon lighting for the logo.

glossy text would be cool :)

I like symmetry.

don't emphasize the word 'table' in 'ixcitable'.

I don't like fat fonts.

do not depict a human hand in the logo.

do not depict a business card: that would be far too obvious a mistake to make.

I quite like the look of a font embedded or etched into the background.

HATE: Yellow, Mustard

UPDATE: sorry I left out the fact that it's just the HEAD of a prehistoric man.

I just added an image of the font I've been using during development for the word "ixcitable" that sits in the apps title bar. I was thinking of using this as the main text styling for the logo, but thought the community could come up with something better! Prove me correct.

Just to clarify, the head must face the left hand side of the page. Work with that rule, and you'll have it down.
