Hartnell College Foundation
We support the students of Hartnell College - many of whom are English as a second language learners and the first in their families to attend college. We rally the community to build a bright future for our students.
Two key designs - the save the date card and invitation. The email blast and business card can utilize the save the date design.
1. Save the Date card 6" X 8.75" full bleed. Double sided. Full color both sides. Templates: http://www.psprint.com/download/templates/postc...
2. Save the Date email blast. GIF or JPG format (optimal size- 600pix wide x 800pix tall @ 72 dpi) – same content as Save the Date card.
3. Business Card – full color, both sides, 3.5 X 3.5. Same content as save the date card minus committee list. Template: http://www.psprint.com/download/templates/busin...
4. Invitation 7" X 10" folds to 7" X 5" full bleed. Double sided. Full color both sides. Invitation should build on the Save the Date design and not be an exact copy. Templates are here: http://www.psprint.com/DOWNLOAD/templates/greet...
You can design vertical or horizontal, up to you. No need to leave room for postage information for the invitations because they’ll go into an envelope. Template just for size and bleed.
Invitation needs to include content from Save the Date card with words “Please Join Us” in place of “Save the Date” and map (included in documents).
5. Reply card for invitation 4 X 6 full bleed. Double sided. Full color both sides. Template in documents. Sample from last year is also in documents. Content is the same as last year – change date and theme from “BLOOM!” to "Roots"
I'll pick the designer based on the cover art for the save-the-date post card, we can then complete the project with the other content provided. I don't expect all participants to create all the pieces.
Education and Universities
The target audience is a mature, highly educated, philanthropic group. Design should be fun, classy, unexpected.
This is the 8th year of a fundraiser for Hartnell College Foundation. It's a very lively party, fun and upbeat and has become THE event in our community and we've become know for amazing design concepts that are then carried out through the entire event. The event name is "Party in the Library" and people come for a great PARTY!
Hartnell College is in the heart of the agricultural industry in California - it's even called the "Salad Bowl" because so many greens are grown in the area. We'd like to honor the rich farming history in the area with our artwork.
The artwork should also show the "roots" or history of the college. I'd like to see the agricultural roots layered with the historical roots in the artwork.
In the past we have incorporated the school mascot - a panther - into the design. The panther can be used in a number of different ways. Samples can be found here: http://pinterest.com/allafitch/oscar-in-his-man...
Would like to see Oscar the Panther incorporated this year too - optimally in a way that can be pulled out and used on letterhead, envelopes, etc.
I've put samples with notes here: http://pinterest.com/allafitch/roots/
I'd like to have a layered, somewhat abstract feel to this year's art.
This design can go two different ways:
Lots of bold jewel tones, especially greens and oranges
Metallics - greens with gold and bronze for a more earthy feel
Either way the colors need to be bold, not subdued
no pastels, stay away from pinks and purples
Vivid. Eye-catching. Complex. Historical. Earthy.
Event collateral - invitations and promotional pieces.
