Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

What is the title or subject of your presentation?

TEDx talk on data mining

What do you do?

Datamining

Do you need a design for slide template(s) only or a full presentation?

Two illustrations needed. Full bleed 16:9

How many slides do you need designed?

Forest, Sandstorm (two slides in total)

What is your industry?

Software and InfoTech

Describe the target audience for your presentation.

TEDx audience

What 3 things do you want to communicate to your audience through your presentation?

Digital data behind real world things.

How do you intend to use this presentation (print, live, web, etc.)?

Live

What specific information must be included in the design?

I’d like a couple of professional illustrations made to insert into a PowerPoint deck. The theme is around data science and data mining.

I’m looking for two illustrations. The aspect ratio of the slides is 16:9 and they will be displayed full bleed.

#1 Digital Forest. I’m looking for view of a forest. My initial thoughts were a ‘real’ image on one side transitioning to a digital wire-frame image on the other side, showing what is underneath (think the Matrix movies), possibly showing a wireframe representation underneath (blue print style, or possible green old-school CRT) and smoothly alpha blended in the middle. (In my concept placeholder mockup I’ve used pixilation instead of wire frame). There should be meandering path in the image, starting at the front of the image and disappearing off in the distance. On this path should be placed ‘digital breadcrumbs’ (Hansel and Gretel fairytale) showing the way. The crumbs are more important than the path, so the path should not be a bold ‘yellow brick road’, but more a subtle path, almost more like an animal track (the path would be hard to follow if the crumbs were not there).

#2 Sandstorm. I’m looking for a very dynamic picture of a sandstorm. Lots of swirling clouds. Inside the clouds, and following the contours of slipstreams should be long strips of binary digits (think almost like dozens of pieces of long ticker-tape ribbon with random binary digits. E.g. 110011011001100101001 … all fluttering in the breeze). Again, Matrix movie like, as if the clouds themselves are made up of these long strings of numbers. It does, however, have to look like a sandstorm (the metaphor in use), so the numbers can’t overpower the image. The cloud should show depth by the ribbons fading and blurred small in the ‘distance’ getting larger and clearer in the ‘foreground’. The font of the digits should be a computer font with the digit zero having the traditional line through.

As a couple of pieces of inspiration, as already mentioned, think the Matrix movies, or the Terminator movies where we see the world as Arnie sees it with wireframe approximations overlayed, and/or computer code and dumps scrolling up the screen.

Whilst the illustrations are of different subjects, I'm looking to use the images closely in the same presentation so bonus marks if they have design elements in common.

With both of these, I’m trying to show the concept of digital data *underneath* the image, not a filter applied over the top.

What character, tenor or spirit does your presentation need to communicate?

The digital data behind the real world

What colors do you want to see in your presentation?

Rich forest colors for the forest, in contrast to the digital image blended in.

Sand colors for the sandstorm (real sand color, not artificial)

What colors do you NOT want to see in your presentation?

Not important

What presentation designs do you like?

Hi all,

We just wanted to let you know that the buyer in this project has requested a refund. And, because we offer buyers a money back guarantee, sometimes we have to make good on that promise.

To reward the loyal creatives who worked hard on this project and all the others on the site, we've taken the proceeds from this project and used them to fund our monthly cS Awards program. The cS Awards are issued every month based on varying criteria but are a simple way that we give back to the community and reward our creatives.

Thanks so much for participating and see you around the site,
