Estee Lauder for there darker background on the product and then their delicate design on the logo and writing.

Look at the picture attached of our body oil art work to see how the leaves intertwine with the writing.

- Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for your hardwork and your submissions so far. They've been brilliant and it's given me a better idea of exactly what I want.
What I'm looking for is a design concept for both the inner cosmetics packaging (mascara containers, powder compacts, lip sticks, eye liner) and the outer card board box packaging for these makeup pieces.
Ideally this would be some kind of pattern that looks good as 1 simple colour. For example, on our skin care packaging, it is the leaf pattern on the side of the box that makes it distinct, and we've begun to bring in that leaf pattern into our inner bottle packaging too - i.e. on our Body Oil bottle artwork attached to this brief which has the leaf pattern disappearing behind the text and then back out again. - I would like the same idea to be incorporated into the inner packaging with hints of an elegant pattern appearing on one or 2 of the corners. And then the same elegant pattern to be incorporated onto the left side panel of the outer box packaging.
The same idea will follow through our various cosmetic pieces, such as Mascara, Lipsticks, Eye Liners, powder compacts etc.
The elegant pattern is the most important thing to come up with first - to bring the whole concept together. I absolutely LOVE this packaging:
See the blog to see how the inner packaging and outer packaging ties in together. And that is what I'm looking for. Simple, glamorous elegance, that needs to reflect natural and organic ingredients.
For example, our Tropic Skin Care range is designed so that the leaves look very organic intertwinning around the box. Look closely and you'll see that all the green panel on the 4 different boxes piece together to make one continuous picture. So it's like the pattern is very organic, natural and growing.
So please design an elegant pattern, taking inspiration from the link above for a mascara, powder compact and lipstick inner packaging and outer box.
Thank you so much. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.
I'm extremely excited with the results.

Thank you for all your submissions so far! This is such an exciting project and it's wonderful seeing all your ideas and thoughts.
To clarify a bit more of what I'm looking for:
1. The outer box packaging should be no more than 3 colour in total, 1 colour for the background, 2 colours for the elegant pattern and one of those colours in the elegant pattern will also be the logo colour (which doesn't have to be green, can be gold etc)
2. Some kind of pattern is needed - just like the Estee Lauder packaging. - that has 2 colours.
3. The inside packaging can be 2 colours only. One will be the background colour, and the other colour will make the text, logo and some kind of pattern.
4. I don't like using dark green backgrounds on the inner or outer packaging as I think it makes the products look old fashioned. So please try some other colours.
5. Please create the inner packaging design as a priority of a square compact, a round compact, a lip stick container, a mascara container.
After playing with some colour of the estee lauder packaging I really like - I've uploaded an idea of colours of the pattern that really appeals to me. If you can create something similar that is elegant, flowy and organic looking, then perfect!
Thank you so much, I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

- Hello everyone!!
I've just uploaded an istock image with leaf patterns you can take inspiration from. Some of the pattern we've changed and use on our skin care packaging which is also all attached.
Thank you so much! Please keep your work coming, I'm so eager to see more!

- Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for your gorgeous designs so far! Some of you have requested exact dimensions to work the designs on and I can't believe I haven't provided that yet, so here goes:
Volumising Mascara: 120mm height, 18mm diameter (cylinder)
Mineral Foundation Compact: 15mm height, 75mm diameter (cylinder)
Volume Lipstick: 65mm height, 18mm diameter (cylinder)
Brightening Foundation: 120mm height, 35mm diameter (cyliner)
Outer box packaging:
Volumising Mascara: 125mm height, 20mm length, 20mm width
Mineral Foundation Compact: 20mm height, 77mm length, 77mm width
Volume Lipstick: 67mm height, 20mm length, 20mm width
Brightening Foundation: 125mm height, 37mm length, 37mm width
I'm loving the designs so far, and would love to see some more ideas and concepts. I want the make up to adopt similar concepts as our skin care packaging, but not the same. So it's a good idea to make the leaf designs slightly different.
Our target market for the cosmetics is middle aged women and so I want to explore some other ideas as I feel the floral swirly designs I previously provided are a little too girly.
Our make up concept is that we will be using natural ingredients which not only helps to conceal your imperfections, but also helps to improve them. For example, our mascaras will contain natural vitamins to condition and lengthen lashes. Our lipsticks will contain shea and cocoa butters to nourish lips and is pure enough to eat! Our mineral foundations will contain green tea, rosehip and vitamin e to help revitalise your skin and is pure enough to sleep in.
And our packaging needs to reflect all of that. I have 3 ideas that i'd like to explore that I think may fit with this concept and appeal to our target market, of course I'm also open to ideas:
1. Using images on the boxes and then keeping packaging minimalistic: just like http://www.makeupbyrenren.com/2012/08/how-i-got...
Some ideas are:
2. Very thin and clean lines for inside packaging and outside packaging, similar to:
3. Bolder leaf designs on inner and outer packaging, like design 24. To make it look more striking and elegant.
Please also try to explore these concepts with different colours out of the colours below:
white, cream, gold, yellow, burnt orange, orange, pearl green, mint green, pale green, teal, clear frosted white.
I'm open to other suggestions too.
Thank you so much for all your hard work so far, we're getting closer and I really look forward to seeing some more ideas!

- Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for all your submissions so far. There are some really amazing ones!
I've got a lot of designs now for pictures of flowers like the Jurlique example I gave in my last brief - thank you for those, and would like to see some more illustration leafy designs to present to my focus group next week.
It needs to tie in with the skin care range on www.tropicskincare.com and I would like to explore some bigger, bolder leaves rather than it being too viney (as that can look very young)
I would like to maintain the idea of using a side panel of solid pattern, and actually, if you put these panels of the skin care boxes I've attached in this brief side by side, they will form a complete image.
The design needs to be very simple, limited in colours, with one panel on the left of the box in full patterned colour.
The inside packaging needs also to be very simple. One plain colour, with the same pattern as an imprint as something lighter.
I really like the packaging on www.paiskincare.com
I also do prefer pale golds to silver.
As our colours of the skin care range is Gold and Green.
I look forward to seeing some more ideas. Thank you so much!

- Hello all!
Thank you for your designs so far. Only a few days left so please keep your designs and ideas coming!
I've uploaded an image of a lovely bunch of illustrated leaves that I simply love. I think they fit nicely with our skin care concept of leaves also!
Of course, this is a stock image so please do change it slightly. I don't like the butterflies and swirls as I think they are too girly.
But please try these designs on the boxes and inner packaging.
I'm interested to see some more unique designs please!

- Hello everyone!
Thanks for your submissions so far!! Only 10 Hours to go!!!
I'd love to see some more inner packaging designs please, as there's not too many of those - if you have any ideas, please submit them! And put them next to your outer box packaging!
I'm loving the ideas of borders and uploaded new leaf design from Istock that I showed.
Thanks so much!
- 5-Nov-12 9:52 p.m. GMT
I've just extended this project to get more designs and ideas through please! I'm happy also to increase the reward amount when I feel I'm getting closer to the perfect makeup design, so please throw all your ideas to the table!
Before submitting designs, please make sure you can answer yes to the following questions:
1. Is there synergy with the Tropic Skin Care line packaging as seen on www.tropicskincare.com
2. Does it reflect simplicity, elegance and class to appeal to the modern woman?
3. Does it convey our brand image of being Tropic, Pure Plant Beauty. Filled with organic and natural plant derived ingredients.
I love the idea of abstract leaf illustrations that are elegant and simple - so i've uploaded an istock image to play with - the latest one that's been uploaded with the lines through the leaves I think works really well with our skin care packaging. It's an elegant concept and if you have any ideas based on that, I'd love to see them.
Feel free to explore different colour schemes. Be bold, be daring, be unique, and be CLASSY.
Thank you so much.
I can't wait to see more designs!

- Hello all!
Thank you so much for your designs so far! They are looking beautiful!
Please keep your ideas coming!
My favourite colour combinations at the moment are:
1. Teal & cream
2. Orange & Gold & white
3. Cream & dusty pinks and brown
4. White and gold
I love very simplistic, elegant leaf shapes, and I'm thinking of having them embossed.
Anything designed needs to look classy, elegant and luxurious, but also fit into the concept of it being natural.
Please keep your ideas coming!!
I'd love to see more, thank you so much!
