Education (6-12 grades and school faculty)

Describe the target audience for your icon design

The users will be individual students who need to outline an essay and are in or past grade 6. The icon must be appealing to both these students as well as their teachers, since the teachers are likely to recommend the app.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your icon design?

The app should make it as clear as possible that the app is used for outlining. Specifically, bullet points are used in the app for organization so this could be nicely integrated into the artwork.

How many different icons do you need designed?

The icon should only have at most one variation. The large image may be different from the others, but all icons must have the same image.

Do you have specific size requirements for the icons?

512 x 512 for the app store, 72 x 72 standard for the iPad, and 29 x 29 for the settings.

What icon design styles do you like?

Please look at the attachments for how the app looks, though please do not limit yourself to this. We like designs that are simple, modern, Web 2.0 and cool and sleek like the iPad (this should NOT look like an old-school Windows icon).

What colors do you want to see in your icon design?

The main color scheme consists of a light and dark blue/gray background, a black navigation bar, and a white paper image for the main screen (see attachments). We would like the app to contain only 2-3 main colors, preferably those already used (black, blue/gray and white), along with potentially another main color if the designer deems appropriate.

What adjectives should best describe your icon design?

Simple, clean, appealing, interesting, engaging.

Do you have additional requirements or links you'd like to share?

Please feel free to submit everything from pencil sketches to rough drafts. Every submission does not need to be a finished product.
