ACME AtronOmatic is looking for a visually stunning design for our new Windows 8-based Flight Tracker. The design should adhere to certain “Windows 8-style” design principles & concepts (formerly known as Windows Metro), but should not be too limiting in terms of color depth or layout.

With this particular project, we’re looking to see what amazing, fresh, and innovative designs the CrowdSpring Universe can come up with - we’re really looking to try and knock people’s socks off
with this application. It should incorporate a specific set of information about a given flight (detailed below), as well a graphical map of the aircraft’s location. Due to technical and design requirements already decided upon, the colors and style for the actual map background have already been chosen… but how the map is displayed and how the detailed information is incorporated into the map is entirely up to you. We’ve provided an example of the style of the map as an attachment; please incorporate the sample map into your design.

Most importantly, while it should be noted that this CrowdSpring project is explicitly for the design of the “track a flight” section, the winning design’s creator will be offered a contract to design the rest of the application, including the overall look-and-feel of the app, complete with supporting sections and other UI/UX elements.

Bear in mind while creating your designs that we’d like to incorporate UX animations into some of the processes of the app; we’re hoping to see some creative suggestions/examples from designers. While we recognize that such animations will not be possible with this CrowdSpring project, we would ultimately like to have the finished app incorporate UX animation suggestions from the designer.

An added plus for this project will be if the designer is familiar with XAML design tools on the Windows platform – namely Blend… or even if you know of someone else you can farm your completed designs out to, that would work nicely for us as well. But neither is a requirement. Any such work would be paid for separately and is above and beyond the scope of this CrowdSpring project.

REMINDER: Do not base your designs off of the attached screens; they are provided merely as an example on how to influence the importance of certain bits of data/information in your design - do not restrict yourself to the layouts found in the screens. We want to see what your creative imaginations can come up with :)
