We are looking for logo design of a future startup Petuum. Petuum is a framework and a substrate for machine learning on big data to extract useful knowledge. Petuum comes from "perpetuum mobile," which is a musical style characterized by a continuous steady stream of notes. Paganini's Moto Perpetuo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_de...) is an excellent example. It is our goal to build a versatile system that runs efficiently and reliably--in perpetual motion.

Update 6-Jan-14 GMT
Thanks for the submissions so far! It'd be good see some multi-colored designs too. I believe two or more colors will make the logo stand out even more.
Update 7-Jan-14 GMT
Thanks so much for the entries so far! I think I might have under-emphasized that it is still a tech company, so it'd be great to have some techy feel to the logo. Some promising approaches to this among the entries are: use techy fonts; use gradient color to create metallic feel (e.g. Apple's logo). But don't feel limited to these options. Also I want to encourage multi-color design despite my previous emphasis on simplicity. I think our logo could be a challenging one as it combines some rather disparate elements: music, tech, speed/efficiency. So I'd encourage to use all elements of design, like font and color besides just shapes, to convey this multi-dimensional idea!
Update 18-Jan-14 GMT
Thanks for all the entries. We'd like the logo to reduce the musical implications, but focus on simplicity, motion, speed, computing, and keeping a remote but detectable feeling of a music origin. A good example is Nike and Speedo's logo. Thanks again for the effort!
Update 18-Jan-14 GMT
Since we are shifting our focus from music to more about simplicity, motion, speed, computing, we are extending the deadline by a week.
Update 26-Jan-14 GMT
We have 3 designs that we really want to build on further. Just asking for a few more days to work with the designers. Thanks!
