We are currently doing a rebranding logo project for a Chinese supermarket chain located in the Eastern United States. All international graphic designers are welcome to participate! You do not need to know Chinese to partake in this project.

Please use the traditional Chinese characters: 中國城超市 in place for the text in the logo.
Also please do not use "Asian" inspired fonts for the English text, simplicity is key.
Emphasis on the MART text is not necessary. Balance is important as well.

We are choosing to extend our deadline an additional 5 days because we are seeing some great entries and some not so great entries. The fact that some designers chose to use images you can find online and overlay a text on top is NOT what we want to see. We know the elements of good design because we work with Ai as well.

We want to see a little more effort put into the consideration of the typeface. We are seeing many generic fonts and little treatment to the text. It is not difficult to alter the typeface to the slightest degree (converting fonts to outlines is quite simple!) We want to see clear, legible text that balances out the icon well. We also want to see 3 logos: icon + English + Chinese text, icon + Chinese text, and icon + English text. PLEASE USE 中國城超市 for the Chinese text instead. We will NOT consider any logos with the old text because it is important you have read the updated brief and followed instructions. Also, please DO consider reading the requirements before hand. We do not want to see 9 different colors when we specifically asked for a mix of the minimum 2-3 and a max of 4. We do not want to see complicated, intricate details, which are very nice and well thought out in respect to the designers tastes, but we are looking for clarity when used in big scale as well as small scale, which is why we stress simplicity as the most important thing. Simplicity however, does not mean elementary. We still want to keep the logo to professional, high quality standards--a fundamental basis in the company that we want to resonate with and communicate to our customers through the logo.

We are hoping that an extension of the deadline of 5 days is enough to have you designers come up with one or two new ideas in response to our comments and ratings. We are also considering giving the winning designer the opportunity to do stationary with extra compensation. Please follow our updated instructions and submit as many new ideas as you may like. We are open to any new logos as long as it has followed our instructions. Thank you very much & good luck!

Thanks for all the submissions, they're looking great so far!

Going forward we would like to see some more diversity. We love oranges and apples, but there are other icon options out there.

Please focus more on the font as well. We want it simple and elegant.

We are currently in the process of making final decisions and picking the winning design. It is difficult since the holidays are approaching and our final decision makers are currently out of the country. The selection process may take about another 2 weeks before it is finalized.
