Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

US Coast Guard Aux / Flotilla 12-07 1SR / Air Station Republic

What is your industry?

Government and Municipal

What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

This is a volunteer extension of the US Coast Guard, your work will be seen by many. This flotilla is one of the top in the country and is primarily an air squadron, but also has sea missions.
1. Try to incorporate Long Island, NY in some way if possible - image, text as you see fit
2. Must be clean, professional & respectful - this is a strong, proud & active group for the CG
3. If possible, convey both air and sea themes, if not...aircraft theme should be prominent

What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)

Round logo preferred, but will consider other options if you feel strongly about your design. Image + text, as there is a lot to convey.

Remember, image will be used in standard printing & will end up on flight suit patches, so be conscious of detail level for both mediums...must look good both ways. Coast guard aux colors are the same as regular coast guard...blue & orange (but when displayed side by side...blue is more prominent in aux)

Brief updates

9-May-13 10:49 a.m. GMT
Adding dimensions specifically for round patch that could end up on flight uniforms, typically 3 x 3. Should image require slightly more space, can be larger but not to exceed 3.5 x 3.5

I've added the logos of some other flotillas to use as a reference. Keep in mind, we want your original work that will stand out as better than what's out there. I'm hoping these will stir your creativity & inspire you.

Please note, don't use helicopters in the design, we don't have those as a flotilla asset. When we fly, it's generally in private, small planes.

Feel free to show your original free hand art skills. A little edge isn't a bad thing. Don't just use stock clips of planes. Also....the sea is a part of us, but doesn't need to be prominent, as it may limit your creativity & your color palatte.

Take a look at the coast guard aux site....anchor can represent the sea as in the logo, doesn't have to be an image of a boat.

I just uploaded 2 additional patches in the "materials" section to get everyone to think a little differently. Please, be creative with a little edge.

Project is being extended to 5/29. Feedback from the flotilla members has been mostly positive. While there are some strong contenders...no one has captured the edge that this group really has.

Planes that appear to be crashing in the ocean, over use of the color blue and for lack of a better term..."soft" images are leaving the group wanting to see someone breakout.

Maybe going beyond just Coast Guard references and doing a google search on "military patches" will help you to see some of the edge that's out there in history...then come back to what we do wih a fresh perspective.

Once again....as we are both an "air" & "sea" flotilla...IF you're able to incorporate both themes, it's a plus. I do recognize that somethings suffer the more that trys to be included. Translation...if you can do that and the "Long Island" can't be included...that makes sense. If you're idea is best as an "air" themed patch....stick to your creative guns. Again, I understand. I hope this feed back helps.

The comments are not designed to get you to "withdraw" your work, only to spur further ideas. You may be one of the top contenders...don't take yourself out of the running.

Hi all,

We just wanted to let you know that the buyer in this project has not chosen a winner so we're going to close the project. Please know that we've made repeated attempts to contact them by phone and email but were unable to reach them.

To reward the loyal creatives who worked hard on this project and all the others on the site, we've taken the proceeds from this project and used them to fund our monthly cS Awards program. The cS Awards are issued every month based on varying criteria but are a simple way that we give back to the community and reward our creatives.

Thanks so much for participating and see you around the site,

The cS crew
