Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

What is the exact name you would like in your logo?

Kaizen Maths

What is your industry?

Education and Universities

What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?

Maths
Fun
Brightness

What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)

I have included images an idea that we have come up with. It is sun-like and incorporates a + and a x. The one with the name below uses half of the logo above it like a sun coming above the horizon. (Perhaps behind the wording there could be a light image of the top half of the logo being reflected as into the sea.)

Do you have any other info or links you want to share?

Mathematical
Should have rotational symmetry - i.e. it should look the same upside down
Should not be too complicated as it will be shrunk down to the size of a fingernail

Brief updates

We are going to be using the logo on cards, similar to a pack of playing cards, with the diamond/heart/spade/club replaced by our logo (in 360 degrees without any writing). On the other of the card, it will have (half) our logo with the words Kaizen Maths based on the image of a sunrise.
As it has to be reduced down in size, the logo must not be too complicated but maybe with a little 3D shading on it, should be clear and easy to pick out from a white background and look good when shrunk down to the size of a fingernail.
We don't want it to look like a cog or a sun but somewhat inbetween - something like the image of File 1 of the brief. The reason we came up with this shape was because of a 'fat' plus on top of a 'fat' multiplication sign. (Perhaps the design could use 3D shading to pick the elements of x and + out.)

I need more time as one design in particular is almost there, but need time for the creative person to perfect it.
