What are the top 3 things you would like to communicate through your logo?
Polis is about:
1) building an intentionally off line, diverse community of adults in the city (San Francisco)
2) community of adults engaged in ongoing life of the mind (through liberal arts classes and community events)
3) this organization/business is more like a community center/school but not a stodgy university or a charity. It needs to feel hip, welcoming, and modern. Something new for adults in the "real world" that is decidedly offline.
What logo styles do you like (image + text, image only, text only, etc.)
Text only would be my first preference but I am willing and open to consider an image plus text if the word Polis is embedded into it. if the designer can think of a logo that includes an image that represents the core ideas.. that is great too.But, In definately need the word Polis in it.
(By the way the word polis is from the ancient greek and it relates to community, democracy, and public life. These are all values of the business/organization)
Do you have any other info or links you want to share?
This logo will serve as the main branding tool. It will be on the website, business cards, etc. I need it to look modern, adult, and "hip". Some examples of fonts and styles I like for logos include the ACE HOTEL (in this style). this business will be in San Francisco, CA and should be able to project an image of cosmopolitan and creative community. Simple, clean, modern, and interesting.

- After seeing some of the designs I want to see if a creative could try to play off of the idea of a Corinithian column or capital and I would to try the log in general as an oval and a bit more angular that what has been submitted so far. I need the logo to be modern to be convey the idea of an "Academy" and of community/public life. Thanks for the works so far!

- Looking for simple, graphic, angular and the color scheme to try should be a combination of black. white, red or dark greys/black with a highlight color like green or red. Thanks!
